I would brighten it up by painting the walls a more neutral color. Adding new bedding and fun pillows, artwork, etc. will add punches of color that will work nicely with the neutral backdrop. As a student I know designing in a budget friendly way is important. If you have an Ikea, HomeGoods, Gordmans or At Home to shop at, these are all great places to pick up interesting and fun pieces without breaking the bank. As far as space planning, from the picture it looks like a fairly long/narrow space- I would keep the bed at the back, back a sofa up to that and add a couple of comfy chairs and maybe an area rug. Dont forget the artwork too, this adds a very important layer to your space. Hope this makes sense and helps!

I would use the greens from your bedspread. Since you have green in the bedspread, and brown and white tiles, those 3 colors need to be your focal point. So I have painted your wall a bright olive green ( the darker color in your bed spread) and the ceiling either a brown to match the tile or a white to match the rest of your ceiling. then or I think this last one is a little tamer . But you should be able to paint over the tile. WHAT kind of tile is it? If it is ceramic you can paint it. Hi Harsha, In accordance to the image shared by you, your bedroom seems to be filled with alot of bulky furniture. Your headboard appears to be in a beautiful shade of beige. You can lighten up the wall by removing the extra shelf where you have currently placed the teddy bears. You can add a wallpaper in shades of pastel green , powder blue in combination of whites. Change your furniture finishings also into the lighter colors of steam beige & white. To add a little vibrancy you can paint the walls in the ink blue shade. Attaching few images for your reference.
