EXHIBITION SPACE: 'The Timber House' presented by Artius, India Design ID 2018
At India Design ID 2018, K2India worked on the architecture and design of the Timber House presented by Artius. They are the leaders of timber construction in India and the foremost manufacturers of high quality doors and windows in the country. Kohelika Kohli styled this Timber House in an eclectic, fun and creative manner. This space showcased a complete narrative in its interior architecture and its particular selections in art and furniture. The structure by Artius was designed purely out of wood, with floor-to-ceiling doors and windows. This space was an amalgamation of many styles - modern, contemporary and Art Deco.
The visitor experience, as soon as one entered the lobby with its beautiful driftwood table over which were hung jewel-coloured lights from Lightbox, was one of stylish youthfulness.
The entire Timber House was used as a gallery space with a curated exhibition of photographs by Kohelika Kohli. She had deliberately chosen to showcase the works of very young photographers, all below the age of 18, who in her opinion were as talented as many established photographers. These included the works of Raihan Vadra, Aviva Baig, Anadya Bhadarya Bhati, Zohravar Singh Bhati and Vinayak Choudhari.
The entrance led into a spacious living area which flowed into a dining space. The linear 8 ft. fireplace, inset into a rock-faced wall, an eclectic ‘pop-art’ console, a nest of tables with the tops made of small slabs of petrified wood (all over a 150 million years old) and the stunning Bocci lights were all elements that made this space vibrant and witty.
About Artius:
Artius has pioneered, in India, the use of wood in unconventional ways and has aspired to build healthier built-environments. Artius believes that “Wood is the Material of the Future” as wood is the most sustainable and renewable resource. Their journey began in 2011 when the promoters of Artius, Vivek and Bhavna Sharma, realized the needs of India’s emerging, diverse and challenging luxury market. Artius’ manufactured doors and windows, using Artius Glulam Timber™️, offers exceptional strength, dimensional stability and rigidity. This counters warping and jamming.
