The Sun Court House

The L Shaped form of the house responds to the site context, where the public spaces i.e. parking, entrance veranda, foyer and formal living is near to the busy east road, Whereas the family areas i.e. family living, kitchen, dining and bedrooms are on the rear side of the house.
The Suncourt is inspired by the traditional open to sky Indian houses where the Suncourt is the heart of the house which brings light as well as provides ventilation to the space.
It is covered by high-tech retractable roof system which can be either closed or opened as per the seasonal changes and periodical changes. The operation is integrated with automation.
To keep the court as the focal point we have introduced the water body which is inspired by Varanasi Ghats which symbolizes the Indian contemporary values of the house. The ghat shaped waterbody holds the brass sculpture of “Shakti” in middle and is surrounded with Bonsai trees.
As the court is a double height space, it is over looked from the adjoining stairway and the bedroom corridors from the first floor. It is visible from all parts of the house, centering the residence beautifully.
