Project: Griffin Apartments ft. Austral Bricks' Elements

Influenced by the Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie Style applied in several housing estates in and around the Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe during WW1, this stunning apartment building reinterprets these heritage buildings with a contemporary twist.
While the strong horizontality and pitched roofs are typically Prairie Style, with deep windows and large overhanging eaves, clever design and carefully selected materials give Griffin Apartments a thoroughly modern aesthetic. Core to this ‘look’ is the exterior cladding of Austral Bricks Elements Zinc semi-glazed bricks, complemented with stacked stone panels.
Every apartment has a private gallery (full-length balcony) that is separated from its neighbour by a full height wall, again in Austral Bricks Elements Zinc, but laid in a stack bond. This simple change of bond pattern provoked many comments from buyers who appreciated the subtle change of pattern.
