The idea behind creating an idiosyncratic design is for it to have its own individual and distinct character. It is blend of traditional aesthetics with the modern elements. The concept in this scenario germinated from the impact of Modern Maharaja Theme, which has the unique quality of bringing together two contrasting forms of design i.e. modern and traditional in a unique homogenous setting.
This residential apartment space is spread across 1640 sqft. area with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, puja room and a drawing & a dining area.
The entrance door opens into the foyer which is a versatile space with the view of magnificent brass doors with lotus motif cut-outs.
The entrance space with entries into guest bedroom and utility is separated from the living area by kaleera panel in high gloss lacquer finish inspired by the drooping of kaleera.
The formal living and dining area creates a visual balance of traditional and modern elements. The neutral palette of grey walls and wooden finish is enlivened by the colorful upholstery. The sofa is custom upholstered in blue & white striped rug with fuchsia pink and blue colored cushions, with a backdrop of canvas paintings
of Indian Maharaja. The elegance of blue pottery dining set and indigo blue mats on matt wooden dining
table gives the sterling appeal. The table lamp, pendant lights gives the glimpse of modern lifestyle. Beveled mirror wall provides a sense of depth to the space. The fusion of antique artefacts with modern table and pendant light gives the ambience of ancient palaces.
The master bedroom has a poetic expression of traditional aesthetics blended with modern elements. It has a bed and T.V. console crafted in wood, antique brass and emerald green suede fabric which gives the gaze of a maharaja lifestyle. The classical wall mounted lamps with blue pottery painting gives the ancestral glance.
The kid’s bedroom has classical elements in modern glossy finishes with subtle colours. The canvas paintings in the palette of green and blue also used in the bed back provides colour to otherwise subtle room.
A twenty year old canvas painting of an Indian maharaja greets the guest bedroom from the entrance foyer of the apartment. Bold Prussian blue upholstered bed back with indigo batik pillows and cushions creates a splendorous setting in the otherwise subtle bedroom of beige and taupe.
