Meander Hūs

Living in the maximum city, space is a luxury. The client wanted to explore the idea of converting his 3-bedroom apartment into 2 bedrooms. In the process open up his living room and kitchen to make it lavish. With an entire expanse of the apartment having an unparalleled view of the Arabian sea. We set out on an unwinding path of design exploration in this lavish 2 bedroom apartment. We present to you the exquisite residence Meander Hūs. The spatial focus being the vastness opening out, a maximal minimalism approach was taken. Merging the third bedroom into the living room, we expanded it; carving out space to let the outdoors permeate inside. Punching a pocket of green into this space we let the space breathe into the outdoors. With ample light being brought in the walls were kept as bare white, a perfect balance to showcase the key elements in a manner of framing them like an intentional contrast. The flooring is a heavy unwinding pattern spread across the large space. Though the living room is large, the entry was to be cordoned off to house the older area of worship. In the process of retaining the visual expanse from the entrance, we created a sinuously curved partition, that not only solved the purpose of hiding the worship area but also became an integral part of the design language in the living room. An opulent matte gold film covers this partition a seemingly subtle yet efficient leather cladding was done. A large circular opening poured into the dining area. The intersection of the spaciousness of minimalism and the personality of maximalism can be seen and experienced in this space. Bold colours, eye-catching patterns, abstract forms and bespoke furniture pieces juxtaposed over simple shapes and sleek lines. Shedding the excess of the past we redefined the space to create harmonious spaces.
The spillover of the kitchen from the living room was in the continuum of the design philosophy. A sweet spot between too much and too little was how the kitchen culminated. A bold leopard print is used sparsely across the kitchen in contrast to a subtle beige Formica. The master bedroom was re-planned to cater to a walk-in wardrobe and also expand the existing bathroom. A bold metal art, teal Bottega Veneta intrecciato weave on the bed set against a mellow background of white painted walls and subtle white marble cladding. The veneer used is also like a woven fabric that appears as a subtle texture. The wardrobe is like an open closet finished in a wooden texture and an intricate flooring pattern in white and beige marble.
The master bathroom shines in the full glory of the dense granite on the walls and the chipped flooring in black marble with black matte grouting.
The daughter’s bedroom has a touch of femininity in the colour palette. Deconstructing the show Bridgerton, pulling in nuances to create the subtle flair of aristocracy the bedroom was designed. A pristine white environment amplified by the natural light seeping in; the soft introduction of colours in playful shapes was infused. An Iris mauve-coloured leatherette cladding swirls around the white matte wardrobe. The study table is a bespoke design resonating with the style in a modern way. The bathroom is clad with Lush green subway tiles and marble trimming details. A large chevron pattern in black and white marble has been created on the floor of the bathroom.
Each of the terraces attached to the rooms has been explicitly designed to resonate with the adjacent indoor space. This maximal minimal approach has harnessed the way to highlight and make the viewer focus on exactly what we intended to.
