Mayfair Villa
The home was to have a subtle approach, the design to be more on the lines of form following function. Infusing the lifestyle of the client is the most important thing while designing a residence; however, to ingeniously making this well designed is vital. The residence is for a nuclear family consisting of the couple and their daughter.
The living room has simple construction with the textured wall and a suspended mandir being the feature. Soft contrast has been created in the room with the use of dark veneer that wraps on the opposite side; on the doors majorly and the tv unit. The powder door has been camouflaged within the wall panel made in a combination of the veneer and a continuation of the texture paint. Bespoke furniture is sophisticated and contemporary. Subtle details have been added; like in the armchair, the back has a contrasting faux leather with a ribbed effect. Accents of metal along with veneer can be seen in the tables be it the trio of the centre table, or the side tables.
The master bedroom has elements echoing from the movie The Great Gatsby. The forms and material palette take shape from the art deco influences. The inclined tv panel has been kept minimal with the veneer peeping through the four inclined panes. A geometric form of lines wraps the column adjacent to the tv panel; flowing into the frosted glass door. The headboard and bed upholstery is rich velvet fabric in black in combination with a matte gold film. The master bathroom oozes a very modern aristocratic aura. Done up in green Indian marble; the dense nature of the marble has been toned down by an off-white floor. The flooring has an old world charm of inlays. The lighting further enhances the ambience of the bathroom.
The daughter's bedroom has been designed around a very contemporary take on an English nursery. The play of contrasts is stark, a cocoon of grey walls with all white furniture and hints of black stripes create the environment of this room. The wardrobe is adorned with a collage of wooden frames all finished to look homogenous.
The guest bedroom is modern with the white calacatta marble dominating the room. It is used on the tv wall panel to the fins above the bed as a partition between the bed and the wardrobe. The wardrobe shutter has a mirror to add depth to the narrow passage like space. The guest bathroom has been kept monochromatic
