Project Story

Interlacing personalities with the old classics in the heart of Thane.

The Hampton Residence, emanating a rich blend of old-world charm and classical English aesthetics, sets out to infuse personality into its interiors.

Based in the city of Thane, the Hampton residence, a home for a client and her two children, actively seeks to capture the distinctive palette of elements preferred by the residents. The fusion of their personalities in different spaces is openly reflected in its interiors. The common spaces of the house follow a classical English theme as indicated by the client, while the private zones are established by their difference in decor styles.

Tailoring the layout to the homeowner's preferences by carefully combining different zones allowed the residence to be spacious while also maximising functionality. Through the clever integration of the kitchen and living room, the powder room into the daughter's bedroom, and the glass door that divides the foyer from the living room, the spaces were envisioned to be seamless, allowing ease of movement. This conscious weaving of areas into each other also rendered the residence fluid for circulation, in addition to its utilitarian character.

The intricately hand-crafted marble flooring at the entrance foyer of the residence warmly welcomes its guests into the residence. The expansive living space is a careful combination of the entrance foyer, formal seating, dining area, and open kitchen with seamless grey marble flowing into the space. In the formal seating area, beige and ivory upholstery and custom lamp shades subdue the voluptuous set of classic furniture that establishes a sleek tonality to the entire room.

The kitchen counter has been finished in matte white PU with its overhead combined with a 24-carat gold coating and tinted glass profile shutters. The antique floor lamp enhances the island kitchen, complemented by a niche that is dressed in leatherette. The dark-colored countertops, complemented by the white cabinets and walls, render a refined modern appearance to the kitchen. These rich elements, working in tandem, give a classical sense to the living room.

The private spaces, i.e., the bedrooms, have been crafted with the utmost care, and resonate with the individuality of every resident. The versatility of the spaces allows for one of the bedrooms to open up as a family room on occasions while keeping the other three bedrooms authentic to their users. While the daughter’s room highlights its delicacy and femininity with the use of Anglo-Indian classical elements, the son’s room takes a minimalistic approach to its interiors, in contrast to the overall aesthetic of the residence. The walls, illustrated in grey shades, with a bottle green coloured long display wardrobe as opposed to them, balance out the neutral tone of the bedroom. A strong yet feminine undertone can be seen in the daughter's room through the fusion of duck egg blue and white, complemented by the customized furniture adhering to the desired classical style. Exuberance and luxury were paramount considerations while designing the master bedroom, in addition to its functionality. An indulgent wallpaper against the backdrop of walls done with teakwood, and the pristine white flooring with a subtle inlay, enhance the classic look of the master bedroom. The walk-in closet is an extension of the bedroom, acting as the ensuite facility and, thus, accentuates the utility of the entire area. The wardrobes with their hand-made glass handles, in addition to the white, gold-accented marble, reveal the opulence of the space.

The thoughtful curation of spaces with the amalgamation of classical English themes with hints of minimalistic style in the corners of this residence enhances the spatial quality, resulting in fluid spaces, flexibility in planning, and a sophisticated aesthetic. The Hampton Residence captures the essence of each and procures the style of classic English style while optimising the functionality of all spaces, making it fluid and idiosyncratic.
