The brief given to the designers was that of making a space that could encapsulate reminiscences while ensuring a functional and comfortable home. Retired from the Indian Navy and carrying what they called “a lifetime’s worth of cargo in memories”, the clients gave Komal & Ninada the task of arranging in harmony their carefully curated collection of antique furniture and objets d’art, acquired from more than thirty years of travel and constant moving.

One can point to a piece of furniture or an artefact and discover layers of meaning- its origin story, cultural history, an anecdote about its making, a tête-a-tête with its maker, and interesting accounts of its expeditions. You can hear a story about the teacup as you sip on steaming ginger tea, or trivia about an intricate bronze doorknob!
