FUSIONstudio gives a new lease of life to an apartment in a 1930’s heritage building in South Mumbai enhancing the original features of the space with contemporary design and craftsmanship.
The design retained the original structure and layout of the apartment and its original doors, windows and frames have been restored, reused and adapted to contemporary living.
The white floor plane and glazing of interior doors and fanlights creates a series of seamlessly interconnected domestic spaces and allow for the transmission and reflection of natural light to the interiors of the apartment. The introduction of a timber panel wall in aged elm stresses the arrangement of the old with the new as well as forms a link between living and dining spaces at the apartment. A natural palette of materials, muted colour tones, surface finishes and a balanced lighting scheme create an elegant and relaxed environment.
