At Finchley House, FUSIONstudio have designed a rear extension to a semi-detached home in London to add a family room, kitchen and outdoor dining area overlooking the garden. The garage was converted into a habitable space for guests and a gym.
The new rear family kitchen area includes large sliding doors and slatted wood panels to shade the interior of the house during the summer months. MapIe wood decking connects the new indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an elevated outdoor seating area with garden equipment storage in the space below it. A mini-piling rig was used to create the new foundations of the extension so as to retain all the existing trees on site.
