This flexible East London loft project by FUSIONstudio explores an elastic spatial strategy to transform a former industrial shell into an animated setting for Gandini Juggling.
Our concept of cross-programming alters the prototypical object, adapting the space for performance, work and living while simultaneously forming a vibrant interface.
This interior object was conceived as an oversized chest for storage and access, framed in sustainable timber and customized to meet the jugglers’ specific needs.
The placement of the object’s mobile elements allows the articulation of foreground and backdrop creating intimate or open zones as desired by the inhabitant.
The rhythm of colours and their pattern reflects upon the relationship between juggling and mathematics, while the tonal variations express the intrinsic energy of each performance.
