Thakur Residence

The vision behind the project was to create a space which has the reminiscence of the client’s hometown, Goa.
A riot of materials, textures, and colours have been employed in the development of this project and the design walks down an earthy ally. The demeanour of the space bestows a down to earth, rustic and vernacular essence, which is evident by the antique finishing of almost all the furniture pieces.
We kept the palette extremely earth, rustic and colourful.
The living room has cement tiles flooring from bharat floorings and the walls are lime plastered.
The furniture is layered around the spaces in a timeless manner so as to give a sense of age to the design.
The custom made sofa is upholstered with raw silk from cottons and satins. A tanjore painting is hung over a trunk from Magnolia.
A headboard from baro is used as a Centre piece behind the sofa which seals the deal with the vibrant colors in the room.
The cushions are from Sarita Handa.
The raw Silk and linen curtains emanate a sense of rustic being.
The finish on the furniture is all antique keeping the continuation in mind.
The home has few boldly done areas like the Bar which need a lot of attention as the client entertains a lot. It lines up with a mystical back lit rare blue-onyx top and customized handmade and printed copper tiles.
A variety of bold colours are carefully camouflaged under the blanket of rustic elements.
The flooring continues in the kitchen which follows a grey/ white theme with accent tiles from C. Tribhovandas.
The guest room has antique blue louvered shutters with a custom made headboard with hanging cushions.
The guest bathroom has a black and white theme with white subway tiles. A gond painting from Baro sits on top of the wc ledge.
The master bedroom is a play of yellow and oranges. The closet is finished in a wallpaper from Elitis. A sarita handa fabric artwork hangs above the side table on one side and an antique carved mirror finished in distressed orange on the other.
The master bathroom has printed grey and black tiles with a yellow mirror.
