This project is a penthouse in a residential tower; inhabited by a family of four. The intent of the design is to create an apartment showcasing a modern urban lifestyle, for a young upwardly mobile family. The apartment is provided with abundant natural light and high ceilings.
The design direction aimed at creating a crafted shell as the background to an exquisite collection of modernist revival furniture with midcentury elements and classical influences.
The walls are detailed with vertical beading & paneling to accentuate the high ceilings and maximize the volume. Light fixtures are hidden away in coves created in the ceiling to maintain clean lines and keep the focus on the shell
Apart from the seating systems, all other furniture pieces were custom made and crafted to identify with the sophisticated theme and merge with the rich Marble flooring already existing in the apartment.
The residents enjoy entertaining guests and that was the main focus of the central seamless experience between the Living, Dining and Kitchen. Brass inlay is incorporated in the flooring and into furniture pieces, inspired by the Modern Revivalist movements.
The Foyer is installed as a sculptural cube at the entrance of the apartment and is the only secondary volume in the living and dining bay.
A clear visual axis through the living and dining volume connects the West & East terraces. Furniture and sculpture within this volume were treated as free standing inserts to provide visual interest within the interiors.
