Apartment 27

A 4bhk converted into a 3bhk with a design idea of camouflaging, blending the
contemporary and classic concept, and keeping in mind the opposite perceptions from the lady and the gentleman of the house.

The idea used is the unexposed door frames and flushed doors from leading directly into any room from the living area. The entrance leads directly into the large heightened living/ dining space with wooden router-cut sliding doors that can easily hide the space when drawn out.

Attached to the TV room, is the main powder room differently designed than the other bathrooms. The 8 feet long bar with a hidden bar-back is a focus in the space, while entertaining guests. A den is created for the son with an attached powder room for his private guests not disturbing the other entertaining area. Long passages in the two end bedrooms do create additional privacy.

Each bedroom has an attached bathroom and an additional service area which is used for storage. The practical highlight in the grandparent’s bedroom is the wide opening of the two flushed synchronized sliding doors which makes it extremely convenient for the family member using a walker or a wheelchair to enter the bathroom. The want for storage has been a trend, so dead spaces in wardrobes are transformed into storage cabinets which are accessed through their wardrobes. The challenge was to maintain the alignment of walls and
partitions forming a rectangle or square visually while preparing the floor plan which was requested by the gentleman. Simultaneously, planning spacious rooms as well.
