Seattle – 1912 Craftsman Remodel
Seattle’s rich history is on full display in its Craftsman homes, and this 1912 gem near Lake Union is no exception. Recently reimagined by Lakeville Homes by SoBella, the remodel blends modern functionality with timeless charm, creating a perfect fit for a busy family of four.
When the homeowners—a pair of professionals with two teenage daughters—approached Lakeville, they dreamed of a space that could support their active Seattle lifestyle while honoring the home’s history. The project included a complete kitchen and dining remodel, creating two bathrooms where there was once only one, upgrading lighting and windows, building a back deck, and refinishing the original hardwood floors. Fresh paint inside and out brought the vision together, while Lakeville tackled challenges like removing an old furnace to create more usable space.
The kitchen is now the heart of the home, featuring standout elements like a Kraus Turino fireclay farmhouse sink, Bosch appliances, and sleek quartz countertops. Custom shaker-style cabinetry, with its two-tone finish, pairs perfectly with the “White Dove” perimeter and a warm, coffee-toned island. This space now caters to both casual family meals and hosting friends.
Honoring the home’s original craftsmanship was a priority. Italian terrazzo flooring and intricate fireplace details were carefully restored to their former glory. Vintage hardware sourced from local reuse stores enhances the home’s authentic character, while original lath-and-plaster walls were seamlessly blended with modern updates.
Renovating a century-old home comes with its share of surprises. Lakeville addressed structural challenges, like replacing a central post with a beam to open up sightlines and navigated delicate issues like encapsulating asbestos-laden siding to maintain the exterior’s historical integrity.
Even Seattle’s wet December didn’t stop progress. With part of the roof removed during the project, the Lakeville team ensured the home remained livable, showcasing their commitment to client comfort and project excellence.
Luxury upgrades, like heated flooring in the primary bathroom, Rejuvenation lighting fixtures, and Kohler accessories, elevate the home’s style and functionality. Thoughtful finishes bring contemporary comfort to a space rooted in history.
This remodeled Craftsman is more than a home—it’s a bridge between the past and the future. By combining expert craftsmanship with the homeowners’ vision, Lakeville delivered a space that balances historic charm and modern convenience.
