Community Garden - Margondanahalli

From Dump Yard to Monolith: A Story of Collaborative Transformation

The gated community of row villas had a large space left by the builders. It was a barren wasteland, a dump yard where trash and debris accumulated. But the community members had a vision. They wanted to transform this eyesore into a beautiful and functional space for everyone to enjoy.

They invited us to landscape the area, and we were honored to be a part of this collaborative process. We worked closely with the committee members to understand their vision and budget. We also consulted with other residents to get their input.

After careful planning, we decided to build a massive monolith structure with a lawn. We sourced multiple trucks of soil and shaped it using machines and human labor. Before adding the lawn, we felt that just a tree would not suffice for such a large structure. To add beauty and emotion, we searched for large rocks in the locality. We found a few magnificent rocks and added them to the landscape, along with a few trees and shrubs for future growth.

To further enhance the space, we wanted to create a seating area. We used an old bench from the same community garden and created a perimeter of gravel bed to keep the area easy to access during any season.

When the project was completed, the community members were thrilled. The monolith structure was a sight to behold. The lawn was lush and green. The rocks were majestic and awe-inspiring. And the seating area was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

We are grateful to the committee members for their vision and support. They made this collaborative process a success. We are also proud to have played a role in transforming the dump yard into a beautiful and inspiring space for the entire community.
