The Zen Home

Derived from our clients’ request for a minimal, natural and warm home, the design for this home happened to align organically with the principles and visual language of Japandi.

Our goal was to take this popular theme and make it unique to our clients. We aimed to create a home with uncluttered, clean designs where the aesthetic was purposeful & cohesive.

As one enters the living room, subtle shapes combined with earthy tones introduce warmth and comfort, while celebrating the minimalism that is the signature of this home.

Possibly our favourite picture of this home, embodying that simplicity is sophistication, the challenge here was to create intimacy and warmth within the minimal, austere design palette.

The foyer of the home is simple by design, with a shoe unit and a mirror, complemented by wooden rafters on the ceiling. Nothing in this home overwhelms, instead you walk in and are embraced by a sense of calm & authenticity.

Optimized storage allows us a study-cum-office space that is tailored for productivity with a minimalist colour scheme highlighted by a sleek black unit with glass shutters.

The kids’ room keeps up with the neutral colour theme where a playful yet understated wallpaper complements the simple tones. Adding a touch of vibrancy, the cushions and rugs inject bursts of colour into the space, lifting its mood.

A notable highlight of the room is the openable study unit, incorporated to meet the client’s requirements for facilitating online classes.

For our young collector of toys and books, we designed his bedroom with ample space for organization, on his terms ofcourse.

An arch bridges the living area and kitchen, mirroring the kitchen cabinet arches for a cohesive look. This simple addition enhances the spatial flow and extends the design language across the living space.

In the kitchen, we opted for a clean look using white oak veneer, perfectly complementing the white and light wooden theme.

The entryway leading to the bedrooms was deliberately kept understated, with only a few decor accents to let the calming design language extends into the bedrooms beyond.

While the open-plan living room gave us plenty of square footage to design with, it also was space that can easily feel empty.

With carefully placed details, we were able to intentionally create distinct zones dedicated to specific goals. For example, the grooved ceiling extends from the foyer to the dining area, creating a subdued, yet effective visual distinction.
