The House with a Veil
The design was about capturing the life that the clients had desired to bring with them to the beautiful weather of Bangalore. It was to be a house protected from sound, dust, and neighbours. Like a clearing in the forest hidden away to its own sunlight. rain, and joy.
The house starts at the second floor level, among the foliage of the trees. Below the main living floor starting at the second floor are 2 duplex apartments made for others. The house makes a veil-made of glass reinforced concrete-that protects it from the street and sun during most of the day and makes a core that is entirely open towards the tropical forest-like rear. The living spaces, the garden, and the pool are all one zone-open throughout the day and night. So much so that the dining is in the open veranda along with the deck space and wood-fired pizza oven.
