The Beam Box is a 350 sq. ft. light experience centre envisioned and designed by Avani Karia Studio for a long-standing, trusted vendor specialising in high-end lighting solutions, manufacturing, and wholesale. Situated strategically next to NESCO — Mumbai’s largest interior and design exhibition hub — the space was conceptualised as a premium, appointment-only experience zone where designers, architects, and their clients can explore lighting in its truest form.
The brief was clear: transform an old warehouse into a refined, immersive environment that not only demonstrates lighting products but narrates the story of how light shapes materiality, texture, emotion, and space. This demand for exclusivity, luxury, and technical precision drove every inch of the design.
We stripped the warehouse back to its bare shell and reimagined it completely. Soft-flowing curves, sculptural niches, and seamless movement became the foundation of the spatial experience. Each curve and recess was intentionally crafted to dramatise light behaviour — from task lights to profiles, spotlights, magnetic tracks, and ambient glows.
Warm light oak veneers paired with deep smoke-dyed veneers bring a calm, contemporary aesthetic, while hand-crafted wooden knobs add a tactile, artisanal touch to the custom drawers. A live material moodboard wall allows visitors to experience how different light temperatures interact with varied surfaces — a crucial tool for informed lighting decisions.
The seating zone features curved sofas, statement chairs, and an original sculptural wall installation designed by us to heighten the artistic experience. Automated curtains, wooden flooring, lime-plaster textured walls, concealed skylight-inspired elements, and an S-shaped magnetic runner track further elevate the atmosphere.
The result is a sensory-driven, thoughtfully engineered lighting gallery — a space where luxury meets technical accuracy, and where every beam, shadow, and reflection tells a story. Designed as a premium destination for lighting exploration, The Beam Box stands as a proud testament to Avani Karia Studio’s ability to blend functionality, technology, and bespoke aesthetics into one cohesive experience.
