Russell Kitchen Remodel
This full kitchen remodel in Russell Township was a complete update. The old kitchen space had a long peninsula but it was very tight inside the work space. The room was fairly dark with poor lighting, dark cabinetry, wood paneling, brick fireplace wall, and a combination of carpet and laminate on the floor. There was very little workspace between the fridge, cooktop and microwave, double ovens, dishwasher, and sink. For such a big room, the storage was limited and there was really only room for one cook at a time.
Luckily, our homeowners were ready to embrace some dramatic changes!!! The new kitchen space makes much better use of the entire room. The new configuration is anchored by a dramatic mantle hood with an induction cooktop below. By moving the refrigerator location, this wall is now a focal point of the kitchen. The peninsula has been replaced by a dramatic island with furniture stylings... split legs, false panels, beadboard, seating, furniture base. Working details include a Kohler single bowl cast iron undermount sink, Moen wave faucet, and a paneled dishwasher and compactor.
The paneled refrigerator now sits in a less obvious location by the window. The new design makes use of the entire room with the double ovens now bookending the window and starting another prep zone. This "baking" area features tray storage, corner drawers, display cabinets, and an appliance garage. A soft seating area sits in between the ovens and fridge and is perfect for a conversation nook, reading a book, enjoying the park like view, or if you're the dog... taking a nap!
The fireplace brick was painted and custom doors and pull outs were built into the wall. The paneling was replaced with drywall and painted, as was the support beam. A TV is mounted over an antique sideboard and is visible throughout the kitchen.
Other details include a sharp microwave drawer, lots of spice storage, a "blind" susan pull out, stacked crown molding, corbels, lots of LED recessed lighting, undercabinet lighting, crackled subway tile, handscraped wood flooring, and tons more little details throughout!
