Pune Villa

The clients wanted to create a holiday home outside Mumbai, a getaway where they could unwind and entertain guests. To make sure they could spend long stints at the property they also wanted a WFH set-up in the Den.
Guided by this brief Sanjna Talwar embraced a modern – eclectic, edgy aesthetic to breathe life into a beautiful villa nestled in the outskirts of Pune.
The layout was crafted around the balance for both quite moments and social interaction. It accommodated ample space for larger gathering, but equally hosted cozy corners for quiet relaxation.
The 3 Story Villa features a large living cum dining area that flows into the kitchen.

A powder room, and staff bedroom with an attached bathroom round off the ground floor.
On the first floor sit two bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a Den. The second floor hosts another two bedrooms with bathrooms. Both floors are adorned with beautiful French architecture inspired balconies wrapped around them.
Thematically the space highlights a “boldness of black” concept. Even before one can enter the rustic looking living room with an exposed brick wall, a bold black carved wooden console and mirror set the tone in the entryway.
The dining table follows suit along with the seats of the chairs around it. The stand-alone bar that doubles up as a brunch counter features a black stone top and cane. The kitchen with fluted black cabinetry showcasing intricate dado tiles blends the black with earthy teak colours.

On the first floor, the master bedroom feels like a trip back in time. An old antique wood bed and side tables sit under a wooden ceiling featuring cane work. In contrast, the guest bedroom is a classical representation of modern design with a healthy dose of warmth and comfort.
The Den stands differentiated a distinctly “masculine” look with the exposed black metal and clean lines with a no fuss approach to the design.

When it came to their son’s bedroom, the design was guided by a different set of ideas. Off-beat artwork punctuated the walls bringing elements of colour and quirk to the pallet that also featured greys and browns. The aesthetic was rounded off with floor to ceiling black fluted doors on the wardrobes.
The clients truly enjoyed entertaining guests, and this passion fed into the creation of an outdoor the roof sit-out, with a tiled bar and a covered section for barbeque.
Reflecting the identity of the owners the home radiated sophistication while holding on to a warm relaxed feeling. The use of clean lines, large windows for natural light, marble to keep the neutrals, and wood created a base. This foundation allowed for the team to mix and match furniture and decor pieces from different styles and eras to create a layered, curated look.
Sanjna added a personal touch with her own affinity for nature guiding the incorporation of indoor plants as well as natural fibers in furniture and textiles, creating perfect synergy with the beautiful landscape that the property overlooks. The whole house is power by solar panels placed on the roof to support eco-friendly energy-efficient systems to reduce the villa's environmental footprint.

Bringing that special something to finish off the home were elements that reflected the personalities and of the family. Artworks they love, family photographs, artefacts collected during travels and other trinkets.
The holiday home we created reflects a modern-eclectic vision but more importantly becomes a cherished retreat for the family and their guests, away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.
