I was once lucky enough to stay in a suite at The Aviator hotel. The decor was a mix of contemporary and air-travel chic - always hinting to the glamour and excitement of 1930s aviation. My stay was made so memorable by the look and feel.

This room featured here is particularly small, so care is required when using the Aviator inspired warm browns, else the room can quickly feel claustrophobic. The size also means furniture needs to expose as much of the floor space as possible...for example the 'Chesterfield' inspired pull out bed/sofa on spindle legs. I've also opted for a sepia library wallpaper as the photo realistic shelves give the impression of about another foot in width. By running the floor boards across the room it all adds to the illusion of a greater footprint and width than the room actually has.
My favourite pieces in here is the up-cycled trunk. It's amazing what a few vintage travel stickers, a little stain and some light sanding can achieve. And of course the recently restored Dansette record player is just perfect to sit back and listen to a bit of 1930s Django Reinhardt to complete the transition back to a much more 'chic' yesteryear...
