Jain Residence

Home. They say home is where the heart is, but from an architectural vantage point, home is
where the soul resides. Home is where the mind comes to peace; home is where the body
relaxes and unwinds. And home is where we feel like we belong. It’s our safe haven in the midst
of the chaos of everyday life. From an underlying concept and narrative to its foundation and
history, every house has its own unrepeatable story to tell. And this is the story of yet another
piece of heaven on earth.

Designed and conceptualized by Essentia environments, this modern contemporary residence
is an artful play of functionality and minimalism in the right quantities to foster an ideal living and
entertaining atmosphere whilst also being connected to the natural world. Planned for a family
of four, it fulfills the needs and requirements - spatially and experientially, of every member of
the client’s family while also offering an accommodating and comfortable living, nurturing growth
and progress of this hearty and healthy family.

The house is built on four different levels stretching from the basement to the second floor. One
would experience the entirety of the structure by accessing the building from the entrance foyer,
which spills over to the living area. The living space is an artful concoction of contrasting tones
between the furniture and the surfaces of the space. To bring an exuberant touch to the space,
metal inlays are incorporated on the walls, while statement lighting is also installed, projecting
captivating patterns in the space. As a part of the culmination of the furniture set, contrasting
tones of emerald green pouffes break the monotony of the neutral colour palette.

The refreshingly sunlight-filled double-height atrium accommodates the plush dining space
where the family members not only experience culinary excellence but also see the tides of time
fade away through the day with the dynamism of play of shadow and light. From the tall curtains
to the white tones that envelop this space, everything adds up to maximising the volume of this
mass. An intriguing inlay pattern with marble in the flooring interjects the relatively simple and
straightforward aesthetics of the area, adding a spirited edge. The sculptural chairs with rivets
paired with the glass table reflect the magnificence of craftsmanship. The green lawn that this
space overlooks, draws the built environment closer to nature - making it truly biophilic in
essence, transforming the space into a bubble of calm and serenity in the house.
Calling out to all and different members of the family, the basement acts as the social node of
interaction for them - be it within the family or outside, with their friends or business contacts.
With a lavish bar and a sprawling twelve-seater dining table, this area makes for an ideal spot
for hosting a party, charming all the guests in. The basement also has a lush bedroom alongside
an ensuite bathroom with high-end sanitary fittings, such as a stylish standing tub. As we
progress to the levels above, we access the more private areas of the house. While the master
bedroom is situated on the second floor, each of these floors has bedrooms coupled with family
gathering spaces, balancing out the privacy of the spaces.

To exude opulence and subdued royalty, one of the primary materials used is marble- in
different tones, colours, and shades, conclusively coming together in harmony and striking a
balance. Numerous spaces have a continuation of the flooring marble making its way to the
verticality of the walls as well, formulating a layer of coherence, thus, making the transition
smooth. Some others feature an interesting array of wallpapers and wood panelling in
conjunction with glass as well as metal. All the furniture pieces are designed in-house and
crafted meticulously by our hardworking vendors. The abundant use of velvets in furniture
upholstery with highlights of brass weaves a concept of continuity between the built environment
and the decor elements.

A neutral and nude colour palette featuring beige, grey, and cream backdrops render a calming
environment, where pops of colour are added in terms of the textiles, artworks, and wallpapers.
This also facilitates the breezy movement and initiates seamlessness that the interconnection of
spaces encompasses. The overall theme of the house was to have a peaceful and therapeutic
environment by amplifying the importance of the relationship with the nature that surrounds the
structure. From landscaped courtyards, exceptionally manicured lawns, ingressed green bodies,
and open-to-sky gardens, various pockets of vigour and bloom are interspersed throughout the
volume of the residence. Besides the passive methodologies that we have assimilated in the
architecture of the residence, the project also follows eco-friendly and sustainable solutions by
leveraging technologies, testing products, and techniques that minimize the use of natural
resources as much as possible. Apart from this we also have an efficient system in place that
takes care of waste management.

A house that gives one the relief of being in their own skin after the world takes a toll on them
then qualifies as home. A conjecture of sunlight, ventilation, and natural materials with smooth
finishes and greens makes this home double up as a natural sanctuary for the inhabitants it is
outlined for. In a nutshell, aesthetic associations between design elements and spatial planning
nurture enriching experiences for an enhanced lifestyle of the end user.
