IKEA
The client had given a clear brief in the start that he wants to create an IKEA based home to which we were not so much in favour to do it thinking out in design aspects. As then we realised that IKEA is a perfect example for VALUE ENGINEERING. We started designing thoroughly why checkout the website and then extracting and creating whole mood board and material boards for client to get the sense of the design. We focused on all the furnishing, décor, textiles, art to compliment each other and worked on those lines to achieve the perfect essence to the house.
It was a challenge to execute the house in the lockdown situation as there no fast communications, delays and everything. In this time IKEA was the best decision in terms of safety also. Client didn’t wanted labours to come every day and work for safety purpose, as he was going to move into the house with family.
There were difficulties been faced while placing the order. Sometimes it happened that the finalised furniture was out of stock, everyday the availability was changing, so had to take the selection decision quickly and even then, we placed the ordered in multiple phases as per the availabilities.
It was a challenging yet interesting and fun project, and it even turned our mind towards this value engineered system. At the final stage, we finally completed the site in the timeline which was focused on. And there was not even any over delay in receiving the orders in this pandemic conditions. Client was happy that the whole house got placed in given timeline, so were we. And now we as IKEA has changed our mind, we are looking forward in how we can use these values engineered products in our projects further.
