Situated on the Big Island of Hawaii, this 6,500 s.f. residence is spread out between four different buildings, in which three are under one roof. In this context, the placement of "solids" and "voids" and the harmony or tension between them becomes very important. In working with David Tamura, landscape architect, we wanted to embrace the natural surroundings and have it feel as though it flowed through the house.
