Elgin Hall - Dalhousie House
Nivasa has been creating beautiful spaces and conceptualising bespoke furniture pieces for over two decades. It added yet another jewel to its crown this year by completing a luxury boutique hotel in Dalhousie,
Himachal Pradesh. The charming, historic property named Elgin Hall, sits amid a picturesque locale. Originally,
a summer escape for British royals, the property was constructed in 1857 and named after British Lord Elgin. Nivasa was appointed to convert the space into a family- friendly luxury retreat. The goal was to retain the historical significance of the space, while seamlessly adding modern signature touches.
Detailed planning went into the design process; the outcome being, a space that spells opulence and comfort in the same breath. Seven well-appointed suites were imagined to appeal to global travellers and families alike. Apart from this, the project consists of a classic tea lounge, library, kids play area and a game room. Each area follows a harmonious design language boasting a lush colour palette and impeccable finishes. The colour story for this project features pastel hues like mint, white and light blue. Vibrant furniture pieces and accessories in bright hues add pops of colour to the space.
Nivasa is one of the first design labels in the country to offer customisation, which forms an integral part of the brand ethos. This philosophy reflects in Elgin Hall as well. Every room was ornamented with custom-designed
pieces – crisp white furniture, chesterfields, tufted chaises, exquisitely crafted light fixtures and premium accent pieces, all inspired by the Victorian era and crafted by Nivasa’s team of expert artisanal craftsmen.
For the Tea Room and Library, Nivasa left the original elements of the building untouched, preserving the old- world charm. Floral upholstery, classic English teacups and fine chinaware heightened the look of the Tea Room. Reminiscent of the lavish past, this area has a relaxed vibe where one can unwind with a warm cup of tea. Right from the rustic design, a fine selection of furniture and
the serene colour palette, everything was thoughtfully put together to achieve a flawless look in tandem with Nivasa’s vision of bringing luxurious spaces to life.
