Diane - Yeah, I'll keep the Mordens for another year. :) When I saw them, I thought, well, they're not terrible; maybe keep them. :) My Snowball (3 feet tall now!) is still green too. My non-blooming lilacs are starting to turn yellow. Oh, your horrid locust trees. Drat on them. I'm impressed with your Golden Celebration for being such a great bloomer. Oh, wow!! Your Morden Sunrise blooms are lovely!! I love the 1st and last ones the best. I love that they're easily accessible for bees.
What do you think? Scroll through the pics; there are some that look very similar to yours. Your roses are all so pretty!! What's the purple rose?
Kentucky_rose - Your POH bloom is yummy!! :) Ooooh...I love the other ones even more!! Those are scrumptious blooms!!
Judy - oh, well, you're probably right, then. :)
Trish - Oh, he used that phrase during the war! So interesting!! You must have been worried about him flying as a night watchman. Don knows a lot about planes (he used to fly a Cesna), especially those from the war. I'll ask him about Mosquitoes. Oh, he was here in Canada, too! He was very important to the war effort. Yes, that does sound dangerous to fly the bombers. We watched a series about WWII with Tom Hanks narrating. It was excellent! World War II with Tom Hanks is a 20-part documentary series on The History Channel that premiered on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026. AI wrote the above. Your Skylight bloom has such wonderful coloring, like a morning sky. Love it!!
Otterbon - so good that it's the rose you wanted. :)
Kitty - five buds!! That's pretty sweet at this time of year, and especially since it's a young rose bush. I'm all for huge buds. :) We had another sunny day with a temp of 23C/73F with the same on Saturday. Perfection!! I had another 10 raspberries (soooo yummy) and some more peas today. I took pictures, but they aren't loaded. Enjoy your nice weather and have fun gardening. :)
Carol, Trish wasn't alive during WWll, so she wasn't around to worry. Heck, I'm almost 81 and I was born a few months after the end of WWll. She can explain........I'm glad you're going to hang on to Morden Sunrise another year. Is the problem that it's not blooming, or is it staying too small? Your snowball is getting big. It should start blooming next spring, I would think. Yes, I'm at my wits' end about those locust trees. I refuse to spend anymore money on pruning them, but they are now shading out the entire front yard, and nothing wants to bloom in front. I think it's time to turn in my pruners. Seriously. It's still warm here and will get up to 85F in a couple of days, but the temp crash is coming. Your temps are wonderful and I hope they keep on coming. I had my fifth bacon and tomato sandwich of the season today, not to mention eating bacon with tomatoes on the side, tomatoes in salad, and tomatoes are now crawling up the walls after me. There truly can be too much of a good thing. Well, it's late and I have nothing exciting to report about my roses. Most are blooming, some quite a lot, and some only a few blooms. The front yard has the most non bloomers, of course. Diane

Spring pics of Augusta Luise. She's starting a flush now, and I think she'll be Angry Augusta--darn.
