Outside, I don’t grow them but our daughter, my sister and a good friend do. The ones in the photo were from the friend. I love the green one in the tree!
I just picked these up at TJ’s. The checker couldn’t get the big one to ring up, so he said, ”You get this one for no charge.“ Not bad considering it was $9.👍🏻
It is a good year for Monarch butterflies around here. We counted 29 Chrysalises hanging around the back porch.
"Our Small Town Rocks" is the theme for this year's parade in the annual celebration of the end of tourist season the weekend after Labor Day. DH helps the library design and build their floats and this year they decided on a Bedrock/Flintstones vibe. He has a trailer for his track car that he tows. The tires on Fred's car are empty drums of racing fuel. DH sketched the Flintstone family and cut them out of a sheet of plywood, then painted the characters. I donated a big fern and my favorite beach umbrella.The inflatable palm trees are from the big A. It's a bit of corny, small town Americana.

For anyone who would like to know where I found some of the items - the glass jar is from Target and I got a while back, however they still sell it. The little house I bought at Michaels and they still have it as well. It cost me 3.50. I already had the tree branch and some of the paper covered wire for the the little branches. The fairy lights are from Michaels as well. They have a huge sale of miniatures and I bought a few others I couldn't fit into my little glass jar. I even cut out a flying witch on a broom but it was too big to fit onto the tree as I would have loved that look. I might try again for a smaller witch. It was hard to draw and cut as it is so tiny.
The one thing I had a hard time finding was a base for the jar to sit on without slipping around. I had a ceramic plate that I turned upside down and used a plastic lid to a paint mixing container. I glued the plastic lid upside down to the plate and painted it and added some litle flowers and stems to hide the plastic part.
I got the inspiration from something I saw on Pinterest. You can do so many different things for any season or holiday and I lost myself in looking at all of the cute ideas! This was my main inspiration.
I enjoyed looking at all the littles in Michael's, so it was fun. If the house comes in, I will use this year and pass on to her next. I don't really decorate for anything other than Christmas. I have everything I need/want. Storage is limited here too. I used to decorated for various holidays when our children lived at home, but it's changed since then. I do make the table nice for holidays and celebrations now, but lower key.

@mtnrdredux_gw the guy watching is pasted in but the water jet is not AI. Take a look at the edited link I posted...Ruby Claire found the video I saw originally and posted it - it's much better than the one I found, so I changed to hers.
@bpath, I think the jet ski is powering the water spout. Take a look at the video again, I reposted the one Ruby Claire found (the one I originally saw but couldn't find again) and watch for the sports car in the background!

Agree-your pets, but I would specify dogs. If other person does not like them, I considerate it a deal-breaker, not just an ice-breaker. :-)
Some people credit "Crazy Rich Asians." I think there are a few things --- a resurgence in games and clubs post-COVID, greater interest in Asian culture (esp food) and the glamorization of MJ with fancy sets and accessories.
I like it because it is challenging, social, and pretty. It also require full concentration, so that is in its own way a respite from the weight of the world.
I have always known this to be true about myself. I know others strongly disagree though.
I have certain minimum standards for appearing in public. Based on what I see when out and about, those standards could be relaxed. 😆 So I tried it. I felt like a bum, hated it. 🤷♀️
It is almost certainly my own social conditioning. However I have no interest in fighting it.
Honestly, my standards aren't that high for anyone else either, this is a me thing. I rarely notice what someone is wearing unless it is really well done....or the other end of that spectrum.

Our new kitten, Cami (for chamomile). Ginger Spice and Earl Gray, featured in my profile pic, came to us 10 years ago. We lost Ginger in May and brought home Cami to lift our spirits and to keep Gray company.

What a great thread to start! I want to come and join for weekly pizza! So many great pictures- food, family, perts, animals, gorgeous outdoors shots.
I started trying watercolor painting and it has been fun but a challenge! Here are some of my attempts along with some furry family photos and one of my mom and dad and both of their moms. It has been a long time since my parents were with me but I love looking at old photos!
What I didn't expect was how peaceful it was. Not a lot of barge traffic, and the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is a haven for migratory birds, fish, wildlife since 1924. The refuge stretches 261 river miles from Wabasha, Minnesota to Rock Island, Illinois, and protects more than 240,000 acres of Mississippi River floodplain. And dark enough at night to see the Milky Way...something I haven't seen in years.
That white mass in the front on water's edge is actually a sand bar covered in white pelicans. We also saw bald eagles on our trip.
