Ditto to what Elmer said about seeking a consult with a sleep specialty doc if you haven’t already done so. I’m sure you’re aware but poor sleep quality is a strong contributing factor to risk of strokes and heart attacks. I do not have sleep apnea but I am a C02 retainer - meaning the C02 level in my blood is too high so the 02 is often too low.. I don’t do so well with ’out with the bad / in with the good’ air. I wasn’t getting enough quality sleep - deep REM sleep. I was sent to pulmonologist who sent me to sleep doc who sent me for a sleep study. Several issues resolved that seemingly had nothing to do with my poor quality of sleep. Also, stress is a trigger for shingles. A person who doesn’t sleep well has a huge underlying issue with stress. It’s a domino effect. All these symptoms seemingly unrelated but after treatment for them it can sometimes be determined that there’s one underlying issue causing the cascade of problems. It’s the chicken and egg thing. I don’t mean to preach or be pushy but I wouldn’t be here to share all this if I hadn’t followed the recommendations of my primary care doc & jumped through all the hoops of the docs I was referred to. I kept saying ”I feel fine”. I was no where near fine. I am pretty fine today.
rubyclaire, I had a dear friend -- bless her heart she made it to 101! -- who despite all her infirmities was always upbeat and cheerful. She said it's because, why be miserable? When you're miserable, you really don't feel very good! I miss her a lot! She was a wonderful role model.

It really is embarrassing that Texas has such a problem with stray and dumped dogs and cats, especially where there are so many spay and neuter clinics. I'm sure many or most that are turned loose or dumped are because people find they cannot afford proper care for them. I don't know about Harris County, but Montgomery County's shelter charges an owner surrender fee. I had to pay the fee once after I found a puppy after a storm, took it to get scanned and took care of it while looking for an owner. After 7 days, the county considers you the owner. Never fear: I paid the fee, continued to foster her, took her to adoption events and then paid the adoption fee to keep her. The ultimate foster fail. I'd love to foster some puppies, but my track record scares me. Glad all these found great care and new homes (I'm sure that last one soon will).
During COVID we adopted our boy from a GSD rescue in Beaumont, Texas. It was facilitated through a group very much like Bestyears described. He came on a bus to just this side of the Canadian border and we picked him up there.
When we applied to adopt we specified we wanted a GSD, and they put us in touch with the woman who ran the rescue in Texas. We followed her on FB and watched all of her videos, etc. until we found the boy that clicked for us. Then she worked with the transporter to get him to us.
What we learned along the way about conditions in Texas echos what Bestyears & Lascatx have said. It's very sad. At the time the rescue was overcapacity, and she was getting calls everyday for owner surrenders, strays picked up and taken to the shelter, on and on. I remember at the time we met her, she was in the process of taking in a group of dogs - including several puppies and a male thought to be aggressive, from a "breeder" that had died and left his disabled wife with all of these dogs she couldn't take care of. They were basically starving in the yard. The male turned out not to be so aggressive once he was untied, fed a few good meals and treated kindly. A few of those dogs came to Canada with our boy.
I don't know how she handled it emotionally.

I've heard of realtors doing an image of a home. My dad's last realtor had a stretched canvas done from a photo of his license plate wall in the garage -- every license plate he's had, incluging the first car each of the kids drove and motorcycles. He was going into an independent living apartment and wouldn't have a place for them, so she preserved the image for him.
We have been in this house 24 years now and had one claim. Our roof -- we got half the payment in our bank account while the adjuster was still standing in our front yard and he told us to spend it all. I was shocked, but told him my dad was an independent agent he talked the same values my dad had and I really appreciated that. Needless to say, we're super loyal clients now even without a watercolor (Traveler's).
Roarah, your home has the same elevation as my grandmother's house -- brings back fond memories. The watercolor is charming, but only a great touch when it comes on top of great service. I'm glad you got both.

Oh. it's worse than that, and it's not just LE. On the same day, there can be two or more coupon codes floating around so you can find different prices. I found out when I was buying a coat for someone and they were looking on theier computer at one price and I was seeing another. But the sale price adjustment is awful. You wouldn't have to return all 5 items you got to get the last one at the sale price. Even if you paid shipping, it would be significant'y less. I think J,Jill has gone to a one day price adjustment. I had that come up on something I ordered and had not been shipped.
LLBean quality has definitely declined. And they don't have the sales that they used to either. And they put their logos in more conspicuous places now, too, which I generally dislike on my clothing.
I read that thrifting is huge with young people and I see them looking for vintage stuff. They must have been in pig heaven when I donated ten pairs of 60/70s jeans a few years ago. When I donate, I swing around and walk through the store, really not looking to buy because of the quality of new clothing. But on my last trip, I scored big time with $10 brand new Hokas in my size, which is pretty small, and I had just paid $169 for a pair, so a real deal. And on the same trip, two pairs of REI shorts for $3 a pair. Daughter who practically lives at our REI says they're $30 and these were in perfect shape.
So it's worth it for any of you looking for quality to search out your local thrift store. It helps if it's in an affluent area.
I've had white cornmeal and blue cornmeal, and I prefer yellow cornmeal. For making pizza or bread with wetter doughs, I use rice flour underneath. I find it prevents sticking better than wheat, is less gritty than cornmeal and is less expensive and more readily available than semolina.

My late DH’s cousin stayed with us and made one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. I tried it like hers, wasn’t as good.
We cheated last night and had an Aldi’s veggie pizza with cauliflower crust. I added more mushrooms, some jarred sun-dried tomatoes, zucchini, and spinach. Oh, and fresh basil and oregano from our garden. It was a bit overloaded. :D
Aldi's makes good pizza, and it sounds wonderful with all the yummy add ons.
