In the meantime I have vacuumed and fluffed the attached back pillows on my sofa. I’m very fond of this fabric that I chose after much deliberation and I’m not in a hurry to cover it up. I lived with a covered IKEA sofa for years and don’t really want to backtrack. I flipped over the seat cushions and I’m using one of the extra cushion covers to begin protecting the place where I sit all the time. It blends right in so it’s not really very noticeable. In the long range however I am very handy with a sewing machine and fabric I would custom make covers for this if it comes to that. It was almost impossible to get this sofa in the house the clearance was literally a quarter of an inch! It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Alice, I am also going to up cycle some bed pillows. Creating some new pillows with the stuffing. I’ll be interested to see the colour you mentioned… I would like to be able to use brown in this space and so far it has been unsuccessful for the most part.

I had a great time yesterday with the visit; one of the notable moments was the grandchildren opening a “restaurant“ in their “playroom” (aka the guestroom) upstairs. They made various varieties of food, depending on what the customers wanted… out of some coloured air, dried clay that I had bought quite a while ago, which,at the time, was not a hit. They got it down off the shelf, and on their own devised the food game… the food orders included bacon wrapped scallops, corn on the cob, sausages, strawberries, (dipped in chocolate)… And pasta with meatballs. All rendered in air dried clay. I dug out the miniature China plates that I have for the gnomes and everybody had a very good time. 🤣🥂🎉The restaurant music was played on the little electronic keyboard that my own kids used to use. There’s a basket of stuffed animals there and my older son noticed the stuffed animals he had as a child, in the basket. We got them out of the basket and reminisced about the characters… which were in the category of the velveteen bunny at that point. Well loved…it was a meaningful nostalgic moment. We hold these in our hearts, as parents. They don’t come around that frequently.

So true Lia 💗 sounds like they had a great time and setting up that upstairs guestroom was perfect for them. I would’ve been a hungry and pleased customer to have found their restaurant. My two grandsons just got back home from a stay with my son-in-law‘s parents. Of course they did not want to leave. They live by the lake and go fishing and boating and get pulled behind the boat on various floaty things. We are still in the triple digits here and I’m staying indoors lol. I looked for some good stuffing here, but apparently I’ve used it on other pillows. I’ll be donating the blue ones that have seen their day next time I have a drop off. I saw on the Walmart site that they had adequate pillow inserts for 18 inch and I may get over there tomorrow and grab those. The color is like a peachy brown, very pretty and I think we’ll go in here in the new living room. The new living room lol, it feels like it! Other than that, I’ve been decluttering from my projects at hand. Do you know I still almost have half of that oil canvas of the Paris Street left over 👀 it’s mostly building street and pedestrians. I imagine I’ll find something to do with that as well.

To me a very disfunctioal kitchen , large for no real reason and honestly if it was mine I would wait until I could do it right . I agree that island makes no sense but you remove it then the flooring needs fixing and so and so on.

What size range and hood will you actually have? The mockups you’re showing appear to be for much larger kitchens than the kitchen you currently have. Are you planning to expand the kitchen?
Your first mockup doesn’t even include a refrigerator, and the ranges shown are much larger than the one you actually have. Because of that, I’m not sure the statement hood you’re considering is going to look anything like the mockups once it’s in your actual space.
I know these are just mockups, but I really think the scale needs to be more realistic for the size of your kitchen. In a smaller space the statement hood could end up looking too large and overwhelming for the room.
I live in a log cabin. We went with natural maple.

Fireplace done!! Absolutely ❤️! Will post pics after new doors are installed. Stay tuned!

No worries, fire away lol. It looks so much better in person, but I was worried like where did the bench go? Lol but I at least have it to the point where I don’t wanna touch it for a while unless necessary. The chair wall actually looks like it could be grouped together more like squished a bit more. But this is what I had to work with and actually there’s a few that didn’t go, a few large ones, but it was hard to hang around them with all practically all vertical pieces without just filling the whole wall with smalls and fillers. I’m actually very happy with it.

Lisa, I wanted to, as I’ve tried to thank everybody, I wanted to send you a special thanks as well for all your work with the mock ups along the way. Not only do they look real and are so helpful, I see that it most likely takes a special talent. We started with the tiny guest room here on this thread on my birthday many many years ago. We added a bathroom in that area for my mother was going to stay with us and very well could still be in the plans. And that area was for her. But we’ve come a long way on this thread and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. It can become addicting and I think the important part is the friendships we make along the way. There will be other projects here as always and more things to have fun with. I’m going to do the best I can to stay in our home even though it’s just me now in this big old house and I like to stay busy as everyone here knows 🤪

Oh KC it looks awesome! Although when I walk in, I’m looking down because I’ve got a lot of movement under foot greeting me. But I eat my dinner on a little TV tray in there and I really get to look at it then. I’m amazed that I haven’t wanted to change anything! That may be a good sign.

Hi Everyone! Im still here. Waiting for the rug sample from L&G and continuing my search for a pair of linear wall sconces for either side of the Mangelsen piece. I'll wait on the FP rug and DR chairs until after the DR rug sample arrives.
I 'D like to find sconces that are very close to the color of the Mangelsen frame, which is a brownish black . I need to visit my local lighting store & have a look around, which I cannot do until next week.
PLease hang in there with me!

I like the direction you are headed; you are getting great help here.
@Disimber, the Mangelson photo is still available. https://www.mangelsen.com/calm-morning-orcas-1210.html

I would be more worried about nightstands and end tables than book storage. Something like this gives a table surface for a lamp and a place to set your phone but also lets you store books and whatever else you need in the drawers below. They're only 17" across.

Dsimber to help you on the decision of the shelves, do you already have items that are going to go in there and perhaps adding some more in the future? You could measure the height of those it may give you an idea of how you want your shelves spaced in height.
That sounds disastrous. Sometimes if you Google that you can get answers to your question, but you need to be pretty specific. “My Toyota of year XYZ is continuously beeping when it is not. How do I change that?” The suggestion of travelling with a charger is a good one. I have problems with my iPhone losing charge as it’s old. I should get that together as I often travel alone.
Books that are tall can be laid on their side. I like the look of three shelves myself, but if you have specific display items you might want to measure them.
