The bed is great! It's comfortable (firm) and we've only received compliments from guests on how well they sleep. I did a lot of research when looking for a murphy bed and went with Breda largely because they're one of the few who offer a KING size murphy bed, but also, because they are more affordable than most of the beds we looked at in showrooms and online (I looked at over 100 different beds).
To address some of the negative reviews, from my perspective:
- Shipping Time - yes, it takes a bit of time, but it's not that long compared to some furniture deliveries we've had. I don't recall exactly but the bed maybe took 6-8 weeks. That's pretty average IMO - we've had plenty of furniture take 12+ weeks.
- Assembly - I read the reviews prior to purchasing our bed and went straight for the added "assembly service" (additional cost). It's fairly obvious from any review websites on Breda's beds that installation is difficult, so if you've ever gotten frustrated at putting furniture together, perhaps think twice about putting this one together yourself and just go with their assembly service and let someone else do it.
- Quality - The quality is perfectly acceptable for the price. We looked at MANY options, including going in showrooms to try other brands out. Several of the showroom pieces we saw were a higher quality than Breda beds - but those also started at a significantly higher price point. And some showrooms had similar quality beds - for a bit more money than what Breda charges. So I've found Breda Beds to be one of the most affordable manufacturers, while also being one of the very few murphy bed manufacturers who offer a king size.
Look - It looks great in our house. I wish the wood looked a little higher quality, but again, this was an extremely affordable bed (compared to other murphy bed manufacturers), so I can't ding them too much.
Any Issues in 1.5 years?
- The only issue I'm having is the bed is a little heavier to lift now than when I had it installed so I'm trying to find a way to make it lighter. I can still lift it relatively easily, but I bet my wife would struggle a little more (but could still do it).
Some Suggestions:
- Add a power outlet/USB for easy cell phone charging
- have switch for lights vs. a remote (not that big of a deal, just thinking of the number of times I'd go to bed w/o the remote, then have to get up and go get it to turn off the light)
