About Us

The late, legendary fashion designer Yves St. Laurent stated that while “fashions fade, style is eternal.” Christine Da Costa, principal Decorator and owner of Décor by Christine lives and breathes that every day with her motto “Where Style Meets Home!” Christine likes to approach a room like a woman’s outfit: “Decorate as you dress.” Buy great, timeless pieces that have longevity and accessorize with less expensive items! Make this your design motto and you will be successful. Christine says “I’ve always loved how Fashion intersects with Interior Decor, and frankly I cannot get enough of both. If you love the clothes in your closet then why shouldn’t that style or colour be reflected in your home? If you’ve got great style…so should your home! Christine works very closely with all her suppliers/contractors to ensure quality and that timeliness of service is upheld for all of her clients. She speaks on a regular basis with clients as their interior decorating project is being completed so everyone is aware of what the other is doing Her blog, appropriately called “The Glam Blog” is all about The Glam!! This is where she takes her readers into glamorous rooms via Glamour Friday posts, marrying fashion and home decor through her “Decorate as you Dress” posts or just talking about glamorous events or projects she is working on. Christine also writes a column for Kimberley Seldon’s online Dabble Magazine called “What’s Trending” in Interior Design, and has appeared on the television show Cityline & CHCH News talking about home decor. She has also freelanced as a Production Designer on the Property Brothers new Show "Buying and Selling" on the W Channel.

Christine is an exceptional designer. Her sense of flare, attention to detail and collaboration is fantastic. Christine helped me with my entire main floor design project - from chosing paint colours to helping with ceiling design and hardwood floor design and of course layout and furniture choices. Her expertise and creativeness really helped to design a space that my family and I absolutely love. I would highly recommend Christine to anyone looking to refresh their home. Thank you Christine for all that you did to create a fabulous space for me!

We contacted Christine immediately once we decided on renovating our powder room, kids bathroom and mudroom flooring. She already had a strong grasp on our style and risk tolerance (for finishes and decor) from our work together in 2017 when she helped with a major main floor renovation. She listened to our ideas, presented some great "mood boards" and off we went - she sourced all components quickly and was very responsive whenever we had a question or concern. The bathrooms and mudroom floor look amazing and we're so happy with how it turned out. I would not hesitate to hire her again for our next phase of home renovations.

I’ve worked with designers before where I felt they didn’t listen to what I liked, Christine seemed to understand what we liked just by talking with us. She came to present our basement renovation with the most amazing fabrics. She knew we owned a home in Arizona and decided she’d bring a little southwest to Oakville. The color and pattern she put together was amazing I could never put together all these pieces and make it look so complete. She helped me see the vision and walked us through each step in the process. I never felt like I wasn’t involved even though I was hundreds of miles away while everything was in progress. Doing a renovation is difficult enough but doing it from afar can be stressful, Christine was there to make sure everything was done correctly checking in and correcting any problems immediately. Once when traveling my husband and we saw something we liked the look of for our fireplace. I texted Christine a picture unsure she could make it work. She quickly responded then sourced materials we could use to make our vision not only work but look fabulous. I looked forward to her picture updates they always kept me in the loop on the progress and it was exciting to see our empty basement transforming into a beautiful living space. The only problem with working with Christine is when you see your completed space you want to do the rest of the house. Thank you Christine for all your help turning our space into this fantastic family hangout, and OMG what a great bathroom!!

My husband Mark and I hired Christine Dacosta just over 3 years ago to do a major re-decorating on our main floor. To quote Christine; "we were taking our home from drab to fab"! Mark and I had moved into our home from Chicago and had no idea where to source furniture etc. We had two young kids and full schedules. Christine took the time to meet with both of us, uncovering our needs and making the renovation as seamless as possible. We replaced carpet with hard wood in our family room, added new custom built in's in the family, foyer and a window seat in the living room. She was a master at fabric selection and helping me see beyond plain colours without pattern. That is one area where I find interior design is important. Helping get you out of your comfort zone and see how texture and colour work together. We also replaced all furniture in the dining room, living room and added a table in the kitchen. We also re-decorated the powder room with beautiful wall paper, light fixture, mirror and hard wear. In the dining room we added a long funky chandelier which I love! There is no way I could have pulled off such a transformation on my own, Christine is very talented and loves what she does!

Christine has been wonderful to work with! She knew exactly what we wanted and executed it effortlessly. Our basement renovation seemed daunting but with Christine's experience, meticulousness and attention to detail the project came together beautifully. Christine captured our sense of style to "T". I would not hesitate to use Christine again and have recommended her to family and friends. You know she has a great sense of style and passion when your basement gets front cover of Canadian Home Trends Magazine and an article- thanks Christine!

We have been so pleased that we made the decision to use Christine for help with designing our new condo. She is exceptional at customer service and very attentive to our needs and constant requests. She is incredibly organized . We really appreciate that she is very mindful of our budget and keeps track so that we never have surprises. She has great ideas and incredibly creative. We are thrilled on how everything is coming together and are grateful for all that Christine has done to make us so happy and comfortable in our new home.

Christine is an amazing designer/consultant. We have always known where are budget is (unlike previous designer who did not keep to the budget at all). She has been accommodating, open to input, easy to communicate with and overall a joy and pleasure to work with. She has been able to help keep us focused, given suggestions, open to feedback and flexible. We'd use her again in a minute (or in my next profession as a real estate agent)

Christine's Interior Design was a real pleasure to photograph! She has a great sense of style, and a real dynamic personality to boot! She's a lot of fun to hang out with. What stood out for me most about her design was her use of color. While her choice of furniture and accessories added glamor to the home, her use of color gave it real pizazz! What is more, is that she was able to achieve this not only in the fully custom designed rooms, but also in the rooms where she integrated some of the existing furniture pieces with new ones. I also loved her her ability to mix patters and solids into a beautifully balanced harmony. If you want to add a little pizazz and glamor to your living space, you should give her a call!
