My kitchen remodel is now in progress and I used Straightline Design. It was the best money I ever spent! The scope of their services included not only the layout itself but addressed all of the structural issues and building code requirements involved in removing a load bearing wall as well as recessing an existing header. They took into account the impact on my existing furnace, wood floors I did not want to replace, and so on, right down to the placement of every outlet I could possibly want. Before the project started I had multiple sets of full plans to use for getting realistic estimates from contractors as well as the final plans which were used to submit to the city planning department for the building permits. My house was built in 1976 and I dreaded having any costly surprises during demolition. Well, the demo is done and they had anticipated everything that could have caused a problem. Knowing what I know now, I would highly recommend Straightline Design over a "free home improvement store" service even if there are no structural issues. You really need someone who can give your home and project the personal, in-depth, on-site services that Straightline provided for me. It's so exciting to see their awesome design coming to life!
