Ian and his team performed the renovation construction work in my 105 year old home. They came recommended by my architect and I could not be more pleased with the work they did, and their professionalism. They brought the project in on time and on budget and above and beyond with quality craftsmanship.

My husband and I recently remodeled our 100+ year old home with Hurst Construction. The project scope was broad—we added 2 new bathrooms, remodeled an existing bathroom, added a theater room, upgraded the kitchen appliances to be built into the existing cabinetry, replaced some interior doors and hardware, added new exterior doors with screens, converted our one car garage into a carriage house, and re-configured our hardscape and landscape in our back yard. The process from start to finish was truly exceptional—their attention to detail, meticulous craftsmanship, thoughtful decision making, and high quality work truly made the entire experience enjoyable. With an old home it was important to us to seamlessly add function without disrupting the integrity and character of the house. Their meticulous attention to detail allowed us to accomplish this. My husband and I also lived in the home throughout the construction process—everyone was always so clean, courteous, and respectful of our home. If I were going to build a new home from the ground up or undergo another renovation, I would choose Hurst Construction for my project.

Ian and his team were professional, responsive, timely and on budget. What's more, we feel like they had genuine enthusiasm for our project (Condo Redux) and were terrific partners to our architect, Chris Fein at Forward Design. Chris recommended Hurst and we are so glad he did. We would definitely hire them again.

Hurst Construction did an amazing job on our addition. We added a two story addition with a full garage with the intent of "making sure that it looked like it had been part of the original 1920 construction. The craftsmanship was incredible - they matched every bit of trim in both the interior and exterior, even making trim pieces by hand when commercial pieces were no longer sold! Ian and his team kept us completely involved, bring up potential problems before they became issues and offering many alternatives that not only were more cost effective, but also looked and worked better. Even more importantly, his crew is outstanding! Hurst understands that they are in the customer-service business as much as the building business. My neighbors continually remarked to me during the 9 month construction about how courteous and neat his entire team was during a quite extensive renovation. Even better, when he turned the house back over to us, our "punch list" was nearly non-existent because he and his team kept us involved during the entire project to make sure that things were as we had envisioned. His follow up after construction was just as good and totally unexpected. When we had a small issue with our thermostat nearly a year after installation, he sent his project manager (Travis) to immediately asses the situation and he simply replaced it at no charge to us. I can't speak highly enough of Ian, his company and his team!

Hurst has done several project for me, all have been outstanding and I would unequivocally hire them again. The most recent projects included a remodel of a small family room and an update to an attic bedroom that dramatically improved heat and cool retention and livability. Their work product was absolutely top quality, but what set Hurst apart was their timeliness and exceptional communication about the project. They communicated with me prior to and during the project in an extremely professional and timely manner. There were no surprises and I appreciated their exceptional work and professionalism.

We hired Hurst Construction to alter the layout of our home, which also involved renovations inside and out. We worked with Ian (the owner) and Travis (lead project manager) on our project. They were a pleasure to work with: reliable, creative, easy going, responsive, experienced, and knowledgeable. When I agonized over a decision, I always found great relief in their advice. In all, we are so thrilled with the outcome of the renovation. Hurst Construction's attention to detail is exceptional. We regularly have the community stop to take pictures of the house and ask who did the remodel.

Hurst Construction worked on a demo/remodel of our home. We are in the home for 2 years now and could not be happier. From the start to end of the project we were extremely pleased with Ian and his entire crew. Their attention to detail is amazing and nothing was left undone. We appreciated the amount of research that was done before the project which led to no surprises during construction. Also, Ian was very considerate of our budget and rarely did we exceed what was planned. I would not hesitate to recommend Hurst Construction and would be more than happy to use their services in the future.

Hurst construction is one of the best contractors I have worked with in Kansas City. As an architect I am always looking for a contractor who can understand the design intent and read the design documents. Hurst not only does this but executes at a high level of craft on time and budget. I hope to continue working with them into the future.

We hired an architect for our kitchen and study renovation project. When it came time to get bids from general contractors, Hurst Construction was suggested to us by the architect along with one other contractor. We met with both contractors but the decision to go with Hurst was an easy one. Our project was a big deal to us, both monetarily and in terms of disruption to our lives. At the time our four kids were ages 1, 4, 6 and 9. Even though we have a finished basement which we could use as a make shift kitchen, the prospect of being without our kitchen was daunting. I met with Ian Hurst and found him easy to get along with. I've worked as a real estate developer and have hired many contractors over the years. Ian is particularly knowledgeable about construction, engineering, architecture and design. It wasn't until later that I learned that he had attended architecture school. He also had worked and learned from one of the best contractors in the city. As a result, his attention to detail and expectations of the sub-contractors he hires is extremely high. Hurst Construction's estimate was competitive and the duration of the project reasonable. More than anything, what sold us on using them was that a "foreman" was on site virtually from beginning to end. It's almost impossible to overstate how much easier that made the project for us. Dustin, our foreman, was the first to arrive and made sure everything was left properly at the end of the day. He was aware that we had small kids and a dog and went to great lengths to make sure their safety was ensured. Ian and Dustin went above and beyond helping us move heavy furniture and appliances down to the basement and up again when the renovation was complete. They have a team of contractors who they've worked with for years. Hurst and their subs work together smoothly and efficiently, clearly respecting each others work but genuinely seeming to be friends. Again, it was incredibly reassuring to have Dustin's watchful eye at the house with the parade of people we didn't know coming and going. Dustin actively participated in almost all facets of the renovation and ensured that they were done correctly. When there were problems (and there weren't many), Dustin or Ian calmly explained the issues and walked us through our options. The project was a complicated one but nevertheless was completed ON TIME and ON BUDGET. In my 20 years of real estate experience, that almost never happens! I highly recommend Hurst Construction and would definitely use them again for future projects.

I have worked with Husrt construction as an architect on numerous projects. They are hands down one of the best we have ever worked with. They understand the design intent and detailing and execute with a high level of craft. I am excited to work with them in the future.

We cannot say enough good things about our project with Hurst Construction. We added on to our garage significantly and added a mudroom. We always felt completely comfortable with the process. They were extremely fair regarding pricing. The construction was extremely well done and they did everything they could to not hinder with the rest of the house. Their onsite manager of the project - Travis - was very professional and always willing to answer any questions we had. We have recommended them to many of our friends because of their great work.
