About Us

Founded in 2005 by Andrew Nance and Thad Reeves, the office has been positioned as a vehicle for collaboration between themselves and other designers, architects, fabricators, and most importantly: clients. Specializing in modern architecture and contemporary architecture, A.GRUPPO Architects engages in a broad range of project types. We have experience in Interior Design, Landscape Design, and a full range of Architectural services. We feel that thoughtful solutions to our clients’ "design problems" are informed by these experiences as well as ongoing research in the ever-changing fields of architecture, materials, and sustainability. A.GRUPPO Architects engages in a broad range of project types and scales from intimately detailed interior "installations" to large scale master planning and speculative development. Thoughtful solutions to these "design problems" are informed by ongoing research in the ever-changing landscape of project delivery and tectonics. The quest for mastery of spatial articulation through light, materiality and composition is the key to attaining the transcendent experiential quality of Architecture. There are a wide variety of issues impacting the practice of Architecture today. Technology, economics, and sustainability all shape the way architects engage the process. We believe the ongoing discourse of Architecture is a critical component to the process of practicing in this field. At A.GRUPPO Architects we are constantly mindful of this and value the "conversation" between architect and client as a necessary ingredient for the development of quality projects.

My wife and I hired A. Gruppo Architects based on viewing their creative past projects. We could not be happier with the decision. We are a little over mid-way into our remodel/addition and the entire process has been smooth. We are working more closely with Andrew Nance, AIA, one of the partners, and he has kept us informed at every step. He has been extremely diligent in keeping within our budget and making creative suggestions. From our first meeting to discuss our needs and wants, to the building of a detailed model, to making sure we understood the contract, to explaining what the workers were doing on site, to materials selections, to making sure that trees were not damaged... we are completely happy with the thoroughness and attention to detail of A. Gruppo

Hired Mr. Nance to remodel the house and it was the best decision we ever made. He found the contractors and subs, insisting that everything be done properly and to code, opening walls and fixing all the infrastructure. It was like being in a Holmes episode with the straw boss being Craig Tomon who went above and beyond. Project stayed on budget

My wife and I scoured hundreds of books and magazines selling pre-designed plans and finally concluded that none of them met our specific needs for a family with two young children. We realized we needed an architect! After being frustrated with the initial results of interviewing several architects and designers, we found Andrew with A.GRUPPO Architects. Andrew listened to what we told him we "wanted", but more importantly, helped us to identify what we "needed". Andrew’s sensitivity to our budget and attention to detail resulted in a home that we have absolutely loved ever since we moved in (just over a decade ago).

I hired Thad and his amazing team after meeting with 3 other architects that a) didn't seem too interested in the project or b) wanted to implement all of their ideas and not take into account any of my preferences. Throughout the entire process, I could not have asked for a more patient, attentive, communicative, detail oriented, and respectful team. I came in with a style and direction of my own and they gladly included me in every step of the design and materials selection. The end result is a home that I LOVE. Along the many hurdles (2 not so great contractors, and a seemingly non-existent timetable)....Thad went above and beyond and provided a level of service that transcended from that of a business transaction to one of a friendship. I would have been lost, taken advantage of, and broke if it was not for these guys. Thad's attention to detail, project management skills, record keeping, and commitment to seeing the project through produced a product and an experience that I could not be happier with. I look forward to working with him again in the future on future projects. I cannot say enough praise for A.Gruppo. Highly recommend! -Erik

We hired Agruppo to design this addition for our home. Andrew listened, engaged us in dialogue and pushed us to imagine the best design and usage for our needs. We could not be happier with the entire process and, of course, the final product- our amazing sleeping house! We came in with ideas and Andrew added his magic and turned our dreams into a fantastic reality. Agruppo designed the entire project and also oversaw the construction phase. What we appreciated most was his honestly and attention to detail. Just as impressive was his directness during construction when things (as is the norm during construction) didn't always go as planned and the fact that he kept us within our budget. We would recommend Andrew and his team to any family expecting a first class design plan from a firm who is honest, loyal and ready and able to put in the hard work and time needed to complete a project that exceeds expectations. -Celina & Bernhard Bley
