Laurie has worked with my company many times and I am always taken with her professionalism and attention to detail. My experience with Laurie can only be described as professional. I am a photographer who was fortunate enough to be hired by Laurie early in my career to photograph a finished property she had designed. Her efforts to make the shoot flow and maximize time were clearly evident. The quality of set preparation, logistics, and flexibility with my schedule were greatly appreciated. Our project is still in progress..Laurie creates beautiful spaces within the budget you give her and the timeline! She is also great with incorporating your personal items into your "new space". Organized too! She goes over and above to meet a deadline. She is very clear on where you are in regards to your budget and provides options if you find something that you must have. I embarked on a major house remodel in July of 2014. Initially I had not planned to hire an interior designer, as I had been designing my house in my head for years and had very specific design elements that I new I wanted to include in the remodel. We were turning our living room, kitchen and dining area into 1 large open entertainment space, which included removing 3 walls and demolishing the main living area of our home, down to the studs! Clean start...everything went. I walked into a Lowe's and spent over 8 hours working w/ a cabinet associate on my cabinet design. At the end I was completely disappointed and left feeling overwhelmed! I knew what I liked but I was really struggling with how to make the different areas of this open space feel distinct, yet connected. I needed help! So...I interviewed 2 designers and Laurie was an easy pick! I showed her pictures out of magazines of design elements that I loved and got the sense immediately that she understood my style and could help me pull my dream house together. And...I was right! She started with the overall design and floor plan of the space. (Large L-shaped kitchen w/ island, office nook, living room and lounge area). For each area she provided drawings of 3 different options. After we made those decisions, she started bringing me material options. The process worked great. I knew the countertops I wanted and we went from there. We were able to make decisions very quickly because Laurie always managed to bring me choices that reflected my style and materials that I liked. It never felt like she was trying to infuse her own style into the design, but simply giving me the best options that worked for the space that I had envisioned. She also helped guide me when there was an area that I was not sure about or really didn't have too much opinion about. (Windows, paint color, etc...) She made those choices easy for me as well!! We moved back into the house just before Thanksgiving and were able to enjoy a lovely family holiday! Everyone loves the new space and my husband and I could not be happier with the end result!! We still walk into the house at times and just look at each other....like...Wow! Is this really our house!?!? Laurie really helped pull our dream together and I would absolutely recommend her!

Laurie Stevens is a true professional in her field and is regarded as a leader in the industry. She keeps herself up to date with trends, colors and functionally of products she recommends. She will give you a very healthy debate if your dream idea just will not work. She is not afraid of telling you if this will work or not and will back this up with ideas or alternate choices. Working with Laurie, I have given her the run of my project as I have no experience of designing kitchen and bathrooms, new house construction. She has been very detail of asking and listening to my likes and dislikes and going forward with a design. I hired Laurie to design the interior of a penthouse condo I am having constructed in Mission Valley. Her assignment related to all aspects of the project from the flooring, cabinets, lighting, closets, bathrooms and appliances. When I say Laurie was an absolute pleasure to work with I would be understating my opinion. During our initial meeting Laurie very quickly learned what I had in mind and then set about her work in a timely, efficient manner. She was, and remains, very responsive to my inquiries and has done an absolutely incredible job. She is highly self motivated and incredibly professional. I am very busy with my own business and very much appreciated Laurie's approach to getting her assignment completed without impacting any of my obligations. I am pleased to very highly recommend Laurie and would encourage everyone to do so. You can trust her and will be absolutely amazed with her abilities, her demeanor and your home when she completes your project. By the way, her fees were incredibly reasonable as well.

Working with Laurie has truly been a pleasure. We had the opportunity to meet and start working together as we were selling our former home and finishing up the construction on our new home. She helped tremendously with our transition from a modern Tuscan to a family- friendly modern home with bountiful window space and exposed steel. We had the entire house as our project. This was to be a fully collaborative event and I was eager to learn as we went. I also knew it was not all going to happen right away. Laurie took the time to get to know our family and right out of the gate helped us choose the pieces to retain and to sell the pieces that were no longer appropriate. We moved into a whole new style and we have had a blast doing so! One of our first steps was to set our budget- an extremely vital tool. Laurie has listened closely to my ideas and concepts and has translated them amazingly. She is extremely detail orientated and when we have not been able to find the "perfect" piece that fit all my criteria we have created our own. Fun textures and color have been incorporated throughout particularly in our daughters rooms. Giant wall stickers, a hanging bubble chair, school lockers along with tailored and efficient desk spaces have made their rooms not only extremely comfortable but also a direct refection of their personalities. My ultimate goal was to create a family-friendly modern home where all the kids love to hang out and the adults are completely relaxed-LJS Design is the perfect fit to make that all happen!

I cannot say enough positive things about Laurie Stevens and the design work she did on our beach house. Early this year, we had a plumbing emergency that ended up destroying our downstairs bathroom and some surrounding flooring. Laurie was incredibly responsive to our situation, pulling together a list of contractors and necessary items to address the problem. Additionally, she was able to provide guidance on products to improve the layout and design of the bathroom, and identify new flooring. The bathroom, shower, and surrounding entryway were completed efficiently and professionally. With her typical positive attitude and calm approach, Laurie was able to turn our disaster into a beautiful renovation--all the while holding our hand through a stressful situation. She is a gem. (Please see below for earlier work she did on our house.) July 2010: Laurie supervised the design and renovation of our house prior to our move back to California from the East Coast. Laurie listened attentively to our needs and goals, and consistently provided top notch service. She helped me visualize the look I wanted by first talking through our vision (or lack of!) and then identifying a variety of quality products to help us achieve that vision. This included different floorings, furniture, accent pieces, window treatments, and landscaping. She improved our kitchen and bathroom floors, identified individualized accent pieces for my children's rooms, as well as updated the paint schemes throughout the house as well as the plumbing fixtures. .To this day, I still love my hardwood floors! Additionally, Laurie supervised all the installation work, and kept us apprised on a daily basis of what was being done. She came in on budget and there were no hidden fees, delays, or issues. Laurie also identified some great products which suited my family to a tee. I look forward to working with Laurie again on new projects!
