Anders and his team are amazing. We are building an ADU in place of our old garage and adding a new garage next to it. Knowing how hard the process can be, dealing with regulations and city requirements, we wanted to have the architect with the knowledge and experience work in the town we live in. Anders was recommended to us by our neighbors who worked with him in the past on a similar project. Anders listens and cares and always open to discuss details and changes that come up both in the process or by our request. My favorite part of working with ALA is how easy our communication is and how fast Anders and Brian respond to our emails. Though we are still in the process of design review we are very excited about the designs that ALA created for us and highly recommend them for your future projects.

Anders Lasater is innovative and invested in the homes he designs. We have worked with Anders on two different builds; each time, he has shown incredible style, knowledge, and personal care for the project. His willingness to listen and incorporate client desires makes working with him even more enjoyable. He is attentive to small details and participates in projects until completion.

We have completed one previous project in North Laguna with ALA, and are in the middle of our second project with them, this time for our future forever home in Corona Del Mar (new build). Anders and his team of architects take the time to fully understand their clients' lifestyles (how they use the home) and their aesthetic palates, and then proceed to apply their design vision to your particular set of requirements. It is an iterative process that ensures everything about the final design makes sense and fulfills the original set of wants and needs. That ALA uses the Revit software allows design changes (structural+material) to be made on-the-fly, sometimes mid-meeting (!!), and you are able to immediately see those changes and experience it in an interactive 3D model (e.g. how sunlight hits skylights at different times of day and the shadows they would create inside the home). If you are a person who can't visualize floorplans and elevations in your mind, Revit is extremely effective and gave us confidence in design changes (without seeing or standing in the home) that we would not be able to get otherwise. Several things stand out about ALA versus other firms we have met and worked with: 1) they are exceptional listeners -- some of the more high-end architects can have a tendency to push their design philosophy or creative output on you because, well, architects are artists. You never get that sense from Anders; our experiences have always felt collaborative and our opinions heard. 2) Anders' designs are generally warm and makes excellent use of light. It's a particular style and point of emphasis that has resonated with me and my wife. 3) They will create a unique design -- you never get the sense that they "reuse" elements from their previous projects in contrast to some other larger firms with more projects in the area, and the end product will be one-of-a-kind. We approached ALA again because we already knew the exceptional level of thoughtful design and service we were going to receive from Anders and his team. If you are looking for an architect to create something special, light-filled, and truly unique, we would give Anders Lasater Architects our highest recommendation, whether it be a new home design or just a reimagination of an existing space/structure.

As a contractor, working with Anders has been a breeze. He and his team are very thorough and provide all the information we need to execute the project exactly to plan. They have great ideas and an amazing perspective of everything down to the small details. We've done a few projects with Anders and his team and have more in the works currently!

Anders Lasater and associate Christine Miller are designing our 1950’s Laguna Beach remodel which improves volume, light and views and achieves accessibility with a modest expansion. They respected our ideas and have achieved unique design solutions that are contemporary, functional, and enhance the street appeal as well. Use of 3D renderings, remote meetings and their prompt responses to our input have been a pleasant and efficient process. They have extensive experience navigating the city process which can be a big challenge!

As a real estate professional, I engage with MANY design professionals on a regular basis. Simply, Anders Lasater is tops. Many design professionals check one or two boxes but few have what I would call the complete package. Anders is an exceptional architect and I am ALWAYS excited to work with him on a project, but additionally Anders has many of the attributes that seem to be uncommon: he listens (and actually acts on client input), he is massively creative and often thinks of design aspects that are not obvious but add the uncommon touch, he works efficiently and on a schedule, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about building here along the California coastline. He is respected and liked which translates into a smoother approval process - he plays well with others.
