Mara Silber Studio

We hired Mara Silber Studio to design the waterfront home we purchased on the North Fork of Long Island last year. The 1950's cottage is going to require a complete renovation and we are adding a second floor as well. We brought Mara in to assess the project from the beginning, even before the architect, because of her impeccable design sensibilities and to get her overview and vision of this special waterfront property. Even though we are just about to begin construction, I can already envision the beautiful home that it will become. Mara created a digital 3D virtual layout and the most wonderfully detailed vision boards for each room and the exterior, so we can already imagine walking through every room fully finished! When we worked with the architect, Mara played an integral part in designing the layout and plans for the house. She paid close attention to every detail inside and out, from the way the light will stream into each room at each hour, to the views from every seat inside and outside, to how each door, closet and cabinet will open, and of course the meticulous selection and placement of furniture, rugs, art, finishes and more! Mara makes herself available to offer input and guidance for even the smallest questions. And she is a complete joy to work with!

Mara was instrumental in preserving the charm of my 1930s Connecticut colonial, while updating it to 21st century living. She is a wonderful listener and very responsive. Mara communicates with clarity that helps streamline any project. I look forward to collaborating with her again.

I hired Mara when I moved from my 700 square foot apartment to a significantly larger condo. From start to finish, she was extremely thorough and very easy to work with. Even before I moved, she met me at my old apartment to help determine what furniture to bring to the condo. Mara is incredibly talented and has an impeccable sense of style, but is also very practical. She was always conscious of my budget and move-in dates, and we ultimately came in under budget, which seems like a rarity these days. What impressed me most about Mara was how she put as much attention into the smallest details as she did the biggest purchases. Anyone can pick out furniture, but Mara has a really unique eye for styling. Everything totally came together at the end, once all the furniture had been installed and Mara meticulously arranged different books, candles, picture frames, etc., to add the final touches to the space. I have been living in my condo for a few months now, and I've received so many compliments on the decor. I LOVE my new place, in large part due to Mara, but I am certainly looking forward to the next time I move, when I can hire Mara for another project. She is amazing!
