Mozaic Landscapes

Although we've never met in person, I found working with Cynthia to be an enjoyable experience and it helped resolve several problems I had with my property. With the COVID-19 social distancing (first phase) in place, we never actually met in person, but she came to visit the site to measure and examine different aspects. We spoke over the phone and met online using Zoom to discuss the site's problems and my goals and later to go over the conceptual design. She also helped pick out the best location for an ADU and advised on some interior design questions. I noticed early on that she quickly understood the various challenges of the site, for the most part without me even having to identify them, and in the end she came up with workable solutions to them all. One thing I liked is that you can buy chunks of time to get the benefit of her experience without committing to a big project. You can take it step by step and pause to consider what to do next. Now I have to make some decisions about which direction to go, but I know I have some good solutions available to me.

We had professional landscaping done on our home when we moved in 5 years ago, and after living with it for a few years we redid the landscape with Cynthia. What a difference!!! We put in new (gorgeous!) custom fences, redid a patio, added a new patio, bought new outdoor furniture, removed part of an existing game court, straightened and widened the front walk, leveled the front garden and added much needed stairs at the entrance, AND built a whole new environmentally friendly 2 car driveway. Oh- and added lighting front and back. Cynthia had amazing vision. She helped our rambling messy front space find balance and high functionality with extra parking and great-looking easy care spaces. She made our back yard feel like a resort, with privacy and restful spaces. Cynthia kept us on track and true to our vision and checked in often to make sure things were going well throughout the demolition and construction processes. The benefit of Cynthia's help exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We felt like she really listened to what we wanted and what wasn't working for us.

Cynthia is absolutely wonderful to work with. She listened to the all of the items that were important to me, and advised me expertly on how to achieve my dreams and keep within my budget. She brings an experienced design eye to your space, and excellent creative problem solving skills. We are underway with our constructions and I can't wait to share photos of the incredible design she created is realized in full!

Cynthia has created a magical outdoor space that has greatly enhanced my home. She took the time to get to know me and my family, and to fully understand our goals for the landscaping project. When we started to think about a backyard makeover project, a colleague recommended Mozaic. I contacted Cynthia, and she explained the process, phases, and costs. Unlike some other designers/contractors that I contacted, Cynthia had a well organized and tech savvy process to learn about the client's objectives, constraints, tastes, and preferences. This required some "homework" for us in advance of meeting, in the form of a questionnaire, Pinterest board, photo collection, and site plan that my wife and I worked on together. Prior to meeting on site, we had a phone call to discuss live. Then, Cynthia met us at the property with a rough draft plan, and we discussed and refined the plan together. This concept design phase was completed on site that day, with a design that is sufficiently detailed for a landscape contractor to bid. Project is still in motion, so it might warrant 5 stars, but it's hard to say for sure until everything is complete.

Cynthia at Mozaic Landscapes has done wonderful work for our backyard! We are extremely happy with how she accommodated our style with her landscape design. She even spent time creating areas for our dog. Working with Cynthia has been a pleasure. She has been timely and thorough in her design work, most recently to come and place the plants before they were planted. We hired Mozaic to do our outdoor landscaping both front and back yard. We had a very specific "feel" we wanted to achieve to match our craftsman-style home and compliment our neighborhood. We felt the design outcome was a wonderful reflection of what we discussed. We felt Cynthia really listened to us and worked with the existing features in the yard that we wanted to keep. After construction process began, Cynthia remained active on our job making suggestions as needed along the way to meet our needs. We love sitting in our yard and listening to the trees, birds and water features. We love entertaining in our new outdoor room. She turned our modest yard into a space which feels much larger than it is. All of us, including the dog, love our new yard.

We were referred to Cynthia Tanyan of Mozaic Landscapes by our neighbors. Took about 4 months to complete --January to April. Highlights of what Mozaic did for us 1) Took into account both my husband's and my desires for our yard 2) Cynthia has great artistic vision and saw that the back of our yard had a view of the hills, something we never ever took advantage of. They built that part of the yard up higher than the rest, added a patio and now we spend at least 90% more time in our backyard relaxing admiring the view. We NEVER did that before. 3) Gardening is easier in garden boxes. In place of our lawn, we now have 9 garden boxes and my husband, the gardener, is reaping the benefits. 4)) Has added to the beautify of our home 100 fold -- no kidding. 5) Best part: you get what you pay for and although at the time we thought it was costly, the benefits have far exceeded the cost. The beauty of our home is now extended and we no longer are embarrassed by an unsightly yard and it didn't take years to complete.

Cynthia has a artful and creative eye for what we wanted. Simple,straightforward functionality and beautiful. Cynthia is easy to throw ideas at and she discusses what may and may not work in projects. She is not afraid to include color on building materials that will compliment the greenery later. Our project is just now beginning and cannot wait to see all her components (i.e. hardscape, softscapes) come to fruition. We believe we have made the right choice in choosing this lovely professional.

Cynthia Tanyan, Mosaic Landscapes, was hired to design the green roof of a newly constructed house. Cynthia not only prepared the drawings, consulted with experts in Europe, secured the ornamental grasses and determined the constitution of the soil, she participated in the design of the underlying roof. We were so pleased with the result, we asked Cynthia to design a three acre meadow to complement the house. The meadow has meandering walkways, lavender avenues, olive trees, orchard and raised beds gardens. She also selected potted plants for our pool deck. Cynthia was a pleasure to work with. Her ideas are remarkable and go beyond what is asked. Cynthia provided plans on time and oversaw the installation with the landscaper. We have had many complements on our roof and meadow.
