Matt Ellenwood redefined the project we originally had in mind and opened the possibility to a much better solution to our remodeling. We are extremely happy with the results. Matt Ellenwood was very pleasant with whom to work. He was on time and helpful. We were quite close to knowing what we wanted in this "historic log" and glass structure and he helped with floor plan (Lower, Main and Loft ), roof plan, and exterior elevations. Structure is roughly 87 x 25 plus porches on both sides. It is as a 1 story 2 pen, dog trot cabin from the front with lean-to garage and lean-to kitchen; It is a 2 story glass front cabin (with partial loft) from the back. He provided building sections showing typical construction, materials and framing. His illustrations were very helpful to me in decision making. Matt worked with my wife and I designing a house from scratch. We needed to take into account the slope of the land and we got a beautiful home that we intend to retire in. He was very patient with us as this was our first time building a house, walking us thru the process and ensuring we got all the areas that we wanted put together in a logical and flowing design. My husband and I bought a 1955 ranch with the idea of doing a whole house remodel. We initially worked with a local design/build company but when we were not given the design we requested we turned to Matt.
