I had to leave a comment for Bell Landscape Architecture. They have designed our outdoor scape for two of our homes. For our historic home, the design in 2006 was a perfect marriage of contemporary outdoor living and entertaining with classic touches that everyone thought had been in place for years. Our beach house was the basic “cookie cutter”. Their recent design for the beach house was easy to execute and transformed the home into a true beach place with loads of character. They meet all of our request for use and feel of our spaces with low maintenance yet lush designs that complemented the homes and areas ideally.

We hired Bell + Aqui Landscape Architects for a project at our home in Bay Harbor Islands. We worked almost exclusively with Deena Bell, and so this review is with respect to Ms. Bell (Bell Landscape Architecture, or "BLA"). The scope of the project involved making improvements to an existing residence. Specifically, we were unhappy with the existing driveway pavers and the too-steep-pitch of the driveway; the unfinished paths along the side of the house, and unfinished landscaping in the front and sides of the home. We also wanted to redesign the wall at the front of the house and install driveway gates. BLA worked quickly to create a plan for the entire project. Ms. Bell's experience, good taste, and extensive knowledge of the various elements of landscape architecture made the multitude of decisions easier to make. But what really sets Ms. Bell apart from the other knowledgeable professionals out there is the following: 1) She is responsive. Ms. Bell has stayed in contact with us throughout the entire project. Phone calls and emails are returned the same day, if not within the hour from her BlackBerry. When either of us were out-of-town, she provided us with her cell phone number. She is quick to answer questions and, more importantly, quick to resolve little issues before they become larger problems. Responsiveness is what separates the amateurs from the true professional. 2) She has a great team. Ms. Bell has assembled a terrific team of professionals to who clearly respect her. From the contractor overseeing the project to the hardscape, landscape, electrical, irrigation and structural folks -- everyone is on the same page throughout and genuinely interested in the project looking its best. 3) She is sensitive to budgeting. We have a large home and this project easily could have become a $400,000 project. When we expressed concern with the proposed cost of the initial plans, Ms. Bell worked with her team to find alternatives that would allow us to reach our goals while staying within our budget. That we eventually exceeded this budget was a result of our own enthusiasm as the project progressed. (Our project will be +/- $200,000). We recommend Ms. Bell and BLA without qualification.

Bell Landscape designed a beautiful tropical English cottage garden for my home in Miami. I requested a garden design that was soft and lush with many layers of textural foliage. They also helped me to select plants that work best for our climate and required less watering. I've had many guests stop by over the years and they always tell me that my home is the most beautiful one on the block! Deena Bell is highly knowledgeable in her field and such a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Bell Landscape!
