About Us

Restoring, renovating, and decorating Cleveland’s historic homes is our passion. With over 40 years of experience in the building trades and design, Shaker Interiors is a boutique design and remodeling studio focused on residential projects in Cleveland’s Eastern suburbs. Intentionally remaining small, we personally oversee each project from start to finish. This allows the time to accurately restore a home’s distinctive character and fulfill our clients’ wishes. We are experts in preserving historic charm while updating floorplans for modern lifestyles. Shaker Interiors’ work is award winning and nationally published. Our success is a combination of enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a desire a turn our clients’ homes into works of art.

I have been working with Nikki for over a decade and all I can say is that she is a visionary. I have built two homes and Nikki has helped me make both homes exquisite. From layout plans, finishes, window treatments, furniture, fabrics, the list goes on! Nikki is extremely organized, responsive, and has great communication. She really listens to her clients and gives them what they want, not “what’s best for them,” which other designers do sometimes. Nikki is gifted at taking my ideas and crystallizing them into a cohesive look (how she does it, I do not know). Working with Nikki is an absolute pleasure and she is amazing.

Nikki and Gerald are so talented, meticulous, kind, and smart. We are thrilled with our new bathroom and we were so pleasantly surprised with how smooth the process was (on our end at least!). They took my ideas for our bathroom and somehow made it 100 times better. I would recommend Shaker Interiors to everyone!

Nikki did a wonderful job wallpapering our not so easy bathroom walls. Quite a bit of prep was necessary to make the finished product look great. Nikki and the professionals she works with are not satisfied until you are satisfied. Thanks so much for the help with our bathroom! Highly recommend.

Nikki & Gerald are everything your looking for in a design team! Their talent & attention to detail have made us friends & clients for life. We gave them a few cluttered ideas & they designed the perfect home office for my husband. They welcome our ideas and gently guided us through the whole process, and every penny to be spent is accounted for up front. They are organized and efficient and the only thing that can slow them down is this darn pandemic. They handle it with grace & true professionalism.

I have been working with Nikki and Gerald on a few projects and I am so pleased! Nikki helped transform my boring home office into a beautiful inviting space and Gerald created a gorgeous hallway cabinet that we will enjoy for years to come! They are both very communicative and respond to emails, calls or texts quickly. They aim to be very transparent which I appreciate and they will work hard to make your inspirations come to fruition!

We unreservedly recommend Nikki Pulver and Shaker Interiors for any interior design project. When choosing a designer, it is so important to select someone who is easy to work with, a great communicator, and someone you feel truly has your best interests at heart. Nikki possesses all of these and more. She is so creatively talented and has a fine eye for quality and design. She has such positive energy and is very detail oriented. She truly goes above and beyond to bring exceptional service and stunning results in a timely and professional manner. Nikki is a first-class designer.

Nikki completed a nearly impossible task - take a formal Shaker living room that would be used 1-2 times a year and turn it into a living room for actual daily living with kids and pets. She created a bold room balancing four bright colors and seven patterns along with trim and pompoms (because every room needs a few pompoms, right?) With stain-resistant fabrics and a lot of Fiber Seal, we use the room every day for family movies, hosting book club or Browns viewing, or reading on the custom extra-long chaise. Thanks, Nikki and Shaker Interiors!

Nikki and Gerald are truly a one-of-a kind team, and both entirely exceeded our expectations. Nikki is professional, incredibly organized, and very communicative. Despite a few hiccups in the plans, our master bathroom project remarkably finished right on time. Nikki has a tight timeline and there were tradesman at our house nearly at all times working diligently to complete the project on time. She's a perfectionist to the N'th degree, which is exactly what you want in a designer or project manager. Gerald is a master craftsman unlike any I've seen before. Both are true professionals and totally excel at their craft, and both have become good friends. I trust them in my house like my own family. Thank you, Nikki and Gerald, for giving us and the kids two fantastic Shaker bathrooms. We are so grateful!

It was a pleasure working with Nikki! She was very respectful of our budget and time, and attentive to all details of the project. Her tradesmen are reliable, skilled, and leave your home cleaner than when they arrive. We are so happy with the beautiful updates to our condo and definitely look forward to working with her again.
