West of Main Design

We had an exceptional experience with Sascha and her team from West of Main Design. We bought a lot and built our dream home in Westboro and Sascha was my first pick. I've seen her work before and I knew she was the designer for us. We first had a designer and architect who took our huge list of "must haves" for our home and they made up the structural plans for us with much of our input. The skeleton was there and now we needed a designer to help us keep continuity and bring us fresh, timeless ideas into our home. It was the best thing we could have done for our marriage. The process was very organic, we had an idea of what we had wanted for our list of "must haves" in each room and took much inspiration off Houzz. We created idea books for each room and shared them with Sascha. For rooms where we just didn't have a clue, Sascha brought us design books and ideas that we could possibly use as inspiration. From that, Sascha selected finishes (no more than 3 which was amazing because we weren't bothered with too much choice) for each meeting. Each meeting consisted of choosing paint, tiles, hardwood, features, lighting, blinds, hardware, etc. She would leave us the samples so we could really see them in different lighting and see how each room flowed well from one to the next. They were excellent communicators - we mainly made huge lists on an email and went through them one by one together at each meeting. If we liked something but it was way above our budget, she would find a suitable alternative at the price point we requested of her. If we didn't like any of her selections, we would explain why and she would come with 3 new samples. We brought in some of our own suppliers if we didn't like hers but overall she made sure to keep the flow and continuity while maintaining crucial points for us in mind (Easy to clean, timeless & classic with a modern flair). With any new construction or renovations you have to expect delays unfortunately. Some delays we ran into were trades not coming in on certain days, or not completing a tile project in time or the trades putting together the tiles incorrectly (so we had to pay for extra tiles after he ripped them out). I will say that my husband GC'd the entire project himself and we were both there every single day, 4-5 times a day checking in on trades so we caught a lot of mistakes that could have been made thus saving us a ton of money and stress. Sascha helped alleviate some of those mistakes by putting together very detailed sketches and updating them multiple times when we could change our minds (which was a lot - she is extremely patient!); examples would include, showing on her drawings how the tile is to be laid out, which direction and where the handles where located on the face of the drawers, mirror & other elevations, etc. Sascha also helped us keep on a realistic timeline, letting us know when we would need to put in orders to be able to have them in time for the trades to install. I still cannot believe we jammed in all of our "must haves" into this home. We made it work and she was a big part in that. We built the perfect home for us and after living in it for just over a year and a half I still do feel that way and am extremely happy with the finished product.

I am delighted with the transformation which Sascha has made to my home, from jumbled to elegant. Sascha’s exquisite good taste and eye for detail are matched with careful shopping. The tradespeople she contracts do quality work. West Of Main is a highly professional company. In the initial consultation this designer listens very intently to what you and clarifies your expectations. Her recommendations are direct and very astute.Invoices are detailed and the time-line is explicit. All work is done on schedule, and inspected by the designer. I will be consulting this company again.

Sascha and her team fix everything. They started with my kitchen and bathroom (total reno) then moved onto designing my two-storey, 2 car garage. Then created the design concepts for my backyard and front yard landscaping. Then Sascha and her team designed and completed my living room gas fireplace design in time for Christmas. :) Sascha and her team are lovely to work with. She always has a solution for everything and has the ability to calm my nerves by simply saying " It will be beautiful".

The team at West of Main (WOM) really delivered when it came to helping me realize my jumbled thoughts in to a very precise vision. WOM’s modus operandi is clearly to listen to their clients and then direct them gently towards considering best-fit options. Confounded by what would look best for my kitchen backsplash, WOM’s team patiently met with me to review options, explaining how best to utilize colour, texture and tile size. They took in to account that my kitchen was not just a workspace but also the main entertainment location. During that time with me they were clearly focused on me and not distracted by other clients. This was pleasing because I am sure my project was small by comparison. They were also extremely conscious of my budget. I may have only had an inkling of what I wanted, but upon completion, I felt the WOM crew had teased out what I really wanted. I highly recommend WOM and will be using them again with my next project.

When my wife and I decided to purchase our new home, we knew that furnishing selections would be a daunting task. Through their vast experience and great reputation as a highly regarded interior design firm, we knew West of Main would be the perfect fit! We've had a lot of fun working with West of Main to design and purchase items for our new house. From choice of paint and wallpaper, unique furniture pieces to suit our style, to selection and discounts for lighting throughout the house, Sascha, Justin and their team have been both tremendously helpful and fun to work with. We love the way our space is starting to look and are looking forward to a larger project with the team soon to add built ins to our living room.

Sascha did an incredible job on our kitchen, living room and bathroom. We had the basic builders options and a challenging layout for the kitchen/living room that was difficult to make use of. She made recommendations for the kitchen design that opened up the space and allowed for its functional use. Sascha took the time to get to know us and incorporated our love of the outdoors and travel into her recommendations. Sascha helped us choose tile, lighting, paint colours, furniture, cupboards, fixtures, countertop and even plants. Her proposed options included a range of price points and the traditional to unique. Sascha was very dependable and enthusiastic throughout the renovation, always providing quick response to emails or phone calls. She made the stressful process of renovating enjoyable. The result a beautiful, unique, modern space that felt like us. We couldn't be happier.

Sascha is the consummate professional when it comes to interior design! I had the great pleasure of dealing with her for my kitchen, dining room and bathroom renovations. Paint colour, counter-tops, backsplash, art, lighting, cupboard refinishes and fabric choices were all in the mix. Left to my own devices, I would have been overwhelmed with the details. With Sascha's careful guidance, though, everything fell into place without a hitch. Her knowledge, taste and attention to detail are impeccable. She is reliable, trustworthy and genuine and her team possesses the same wonderful qualities. Not only am I delighted with the results, she actually saved me money on the purchase of materials from suppliers!

I cannot put into words how valuable Sascha has been throughout the process of finishing and decorating our new home. We purchased a new build, and Sascha attended our appointments to help us pick out our finishes. Her expertise assisted us in determining where to allocate our funds for upgrades, which finishes to choose to maintain appeal for resale, while incorporating our personalities into the finished product. At our pre-delivery inspection, the inspector commented that it was the nicest unit he had seen in the development! Sascha's assistance did not end there. She has continuously provided input and direction for the decorating process. From recommending furniture at various price points, to ordering the perfect chandelier, to recommending where to add greenery and pops of colour, she has embraced everything that we expressed was important to us and turned it into our dream home. Choosing finishes and furniture from swatches and a floor plan are not an easy task. Having the experience of a designer to help make those decisions was so advantageous. The value of having Sascha help us visualize the finished product far outweighed the cost of her services

After much research, we hired West of Main to provide their expertise with our home selections (structural, exterior and finishes) prior to building and continued with their interior design services. Having Sascha from West of Main attend our meetings throughout the building process helped us make educated decisions on our home layout and finishes.
