About Us

Pappas Design, a residential interior design and space planning studio was founded in 1979. It is a full-service interior design studio specializing in, but not limited to, space planning, kitchen and bath design plus design for any room in a residential home. Feng Shui consultation, lighting plans, furnishings selection add to the broad range of services. Pappas Design is mindful of environmental issues, universal access, and aging-in-place considerations. The company mission is to enhance the lives of its clients through a mindful design process. Pappas Design believes there is a correlation between the beauty, comfort and function of a home and how the individuals prosper in those spaces. We approach design from holistic and research perspectives with the intent of bettering peoples’ lives. To this end, we study homeowners’ behaviors and how their interior environments affect their lives.

Maryjane is one of the most talented designers in the country. I have worked with her for decades and would recommend her for any project someone might be considering. Her innovation, design sense, creative eye and superb space planning knowledge sets her places her at the highest level of interior design. Yes, I am prejudiced. I have the history of her career and projects to back me up.

I first worked with Pappas Design when I was a magazine editor in New York . Later, when I launched a national home improvement magazine here in Minnesota, I recruited Mary Jane to design an extraordinary lower-level laundry room for a cover feature. She always came up with design elements that never would have crossed my mind but made each project a stand out. She's one of the best.

Mary Jane Pappas helped us make key decisions about how to reconfigure some spaces in our new home. She gave such thoughtful recommendations, and quickly identified solutions that will help make our home more comfortable and enjoyable. Mary Jane has such a talent for designing spaces with natural flow and good energy, while keeping with the style of her client. Her ideas are a fantastic blend of practical and graceful.

Awesome group of designers! They provided us with a whole house plan to work towards and then helped us decide where to start. They were willing to be as involved in the process as we wanted and needed, from dealing with the contractor to helping pick out some of the smallest design details. Very transparent in their pricing and flexible with all budget types. Would recommend them to any of our friends and family.

Commented: CabinetsThe cabinets are select white maple and were manufactured by a Minnesota custom cabinet shop.

Commented: Slate floorThis is a custom design. It is green slate and came in different size pieces as shown here. Some pieces were cut to fit. It was installed this way by the trades person.
