Wonderful team that helped us downsize and move from Georgia to Charleston, SC. Invaluable in placing furniture on floor plans before we ever moved, therefore, we knew what would fit and where it would go. All of this was done with photographs and measurements. We used some of our furniture and some new pieces were purchased. All of the planning made the move easy and exciting. They even helped with the move-in, advising on very professional movers. The colors blended throughout the new home and everything is beautiful! We are so happy and pleased with everything that Margaret Donaldson Interiors has helped us with and very thankful.

We hired Margaret and her team to help us with a remodel of an older home on Kiawah Island, SC. Hiring MDI was the best decision we made with the project. This was more than updating the decor. We enlarged our home and redecorated every room in the house. The process that MDI uses, whether you are updating one room or an entire house, works. First of all, they listen to what you envision and then make suggestions. They want to know what you like, what you are envisioning and how you will use the space. Then the fun begins. They start with colors and develop a palette. They suggest furniture that will look great but also be comfortable. They use-state-of-the-art technology to place your possible furniture on a floor plan, create mood boards with fabric, paint colors, furniture, etc for each room and pick the perfect size of art work for a wall. They are organized and well-staffed. They are friendly, fun and have passion for what they do. Also, because Margaret and her team have years of experience, they can catch little details or big ideas that you should consider and didn't even think about. It was a joy working with MDI and I love the outcome of our remodel that they treated as if it were their own home.

My husband and I started out building process back in 2017, and my architect from Columbia, SC hightly recommended Margaret Donaldson. I made my appointment to meet, and I knew right away I would love her and her entire design team! We just meshed, and she totally got me, and my taste. They were with me from the beginning stages until move in, which was February, 2019. She and her entire staff made me feel so welcome. They would set up an entire day to meet to do design and selections, and she would have lunch brought in at her office, and we would all eat together. I thought that was just a lovely touch! After we moved in and settled, I missed our design meetings! I became family at Margaret Donaldson and her team!

Margaret and her whole team are the best. Very professional, extra attention to detail, very creative and my whole house looks great. They also worked very well with our architect and builder.

We loved the entire experience of working with Margaret Donaldson Interiors! From the first meeting exploring different fabrics, to the various selection meetings, to the delivery of everything to our new home, MDI's entire staff was always focused on making the process an enjoyable one and ensured the finished product was exactly what we envisioned (and more). We began the process thinking perhaps we would have MDI help us with the main public spaces of our home (family room, kitchen, dining) and ended up having them help us with the entire home, including lighting, rugs and bedding. I would do it all over again and just wish I had another home that I could have the MDI team decorate for me!

It was a pleasure to work with Margaret and her design team on a recent “redo” of our current house. We were intent on changing the color scheme and wanted a comfortable, classic look. In addition, we gave Margaret the task of melding our (at times) opposite tastes. She is a wonderful listener, and our home is now a reflection of us. MDI has amazing resources, and the design process was seamless. Margaret and Delta were always well organized and prepared for meetings. Everything was drawn to scale and placed on design boards so we could visualize how things would eventually look in our house. They were also very open to incorporating our ideas into the overall design and were able to work within our budget. Margaret has an innate sense of color and scale and also the ability to add those special pieces that make your house unique. We are still working with MDI to add the finishing touches to our place. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Margaret and Delta. They are professional and we also found them to be genuinely nice people. Most importantly, our home finally feels like it is a perfect fit for us and our lifestyle. Thank you MDI!

MDI has created two beautifully furnished homes for us on the South Carolina coast. I have worked with them for over three years and even though the houses were completed last year, they continue to help me with additional furniture and accessories. Margaret and her amazing team carefully listened to the purpose for each room of our houses, one a new construction and the other, a renovation. They were respectful of our ideas and preferences in color, texture and different finishes and then used those details as inspiration in every room. MDI is a very knowledgeable, organized and well-run company that I would highly recommend!

After interviewing several Charleston area designers and touring some of their client's homes, we decided to work with Margaret Donaldson Interiors on the interior design aspects of our new home on Kiawah Island. We brought in Margaret and her team early during the architectural design phase, and it was extremely beneficial to have their eyes on the plans as they were developed to help determine an array of interior architectural details (window size and location, aligning preliminary furniture plans with the floor plans, etc.). Margaret and Elisabeth worked closely with us through every phase of the design and building process (including a tedious electrical walk through in freezing January temperatures) and worked tirelessly with us on every interior design decision (cabinets, tile, countertops, flooring, paint, carpet, door and cabinet hardware, lighting fixtures), and all furnishings and finishes. Throughout the process, they carefully presented options that reflected our vision for the look, feel and, most importantly for us, the function of our home. They were patient, thorough, professional, and paid attention to every detail. We love the final result and we could not imagine how we would have gotten through (or enjoyed so much) the whole process without Margaret and Elisabeth on our team.
