Christine has great instincts and a gentle way of pointing out just what she sees. I asked for her help when I had gotten lost in paint colors for my upper level and had lost all sense of direction. Christi came in, asked me to talk a bit about what I wanted, and then she cut through my confusion with specific ideas that made perfect sense. Yes, the green paint in the small room that started all this trouble was perfect and I should leave it alone. But then she asked me to reconsider the beige color in the central area at the top of the stairs. Christi knew just the perfect shade of green, one I never would have considered. Today this one color plays up the paint colors in all the rest of the upstairs rooms. After she resolved my paint dilemma, Christi looked around at the layout of my furniture and the accessories I had strewn along the baseboards. She showed me how I could best rearrange these for the space and she helped me rehang a few pictures on the wall so I see what she meant. Finally, Christi told me what I would need to finish the effect: right away, some small mirrors clustered on one wall to add light and some baskets to fill the space above a too-short bookshelf. For the future, pieces that will complete my vision as I replace the pieces that for now serve a purpose. I feel as though Mary Poppins showed up at my house and left it shipshape.

When my family and I moved to a larger home last year, it quickly became evident that we needed to find new furniture for almost every room in the house. I turned to Gabberts for help because I knew I could count on its having high-quality, unique pieces that would last for years. I just needed to find a designer who could search for the perfect additions to our new home. Upon meeting Christine Sutphen I knew immediately that she was the perfect person for the job. She understood my husband’s and my taste and our need for practicality (with three boys between 5 and 7 years-old, anything we bought had to be durable.) She also worked diligently to stay within budget for each room she designed. Christine literally transformed our dining room into a warm and lovely area for entertaining, including a custom-made accent table, beautiful artwork and lamps to fill in a previously empty space and tie together the existing elements in the room. She also found the perfect table accessories to complete the look of the room. Christine also developed a new floor plan for our living room and found a new sofa, character chair, lamps, and several tables that we adore. We actually love being in the living room now because it flows so nicely, and with the added brightness, is much more inviting as well. Christine worked similar magic in our office, main floor powder room and basement. We’ll again seek her help in improving the look and comfort of our master bedroom, finding art for the upstairs walls, and, when the kids are a bit older, a new breakfast table and counter stools. I simply can’t praise Christine enough for her attention to detail, exceptional service and innate ability to design spaces in perfect accordance with her clients' taste.

Christine Sutphen did a great job working with me when I decided to replace some living room furniture. She listened well, was thoughtful as I decided then changed my mind on colors. She was always respectful of my choices and wishes for fabric, color and size for the pieces. I love the result!! She really worked with me.
