McLain Homes, LLC

We recently built a lovely 2300 sq foot custom home with McLain Homes. We were incredibly nervous about starting the process of building a new home after hearing nightmare stories of others building custom. We also had the added pressure of a young child with special needs. We quickly realized that they were going to be wonderful to work with and that they were honest people. I was able to work with Mr. Bryan McLain to design a home that suited our needs, had the design aesthetic that I was looking for, and fell into the budget we presented. The best part was just how much Mr. Bryan appreciated the old Louisiana style (reclaimed elements and the architectural design style of A. Hays Town) that I was hoping to implement. He listened so well to everything I was requesting and worked with a local architect to finalize a design that was just perfect! I mean really couldn't have turned out better! And the beautiful lot they suggested for the house suited our needs and gave us the privacy we were looking for. We were assigned Jim van Breeman as our project manager. JIm was so well-organized, professional, and always stayed on top of everything. We had a few hang-ups in the process, for instance - the plumbing fixture company sent over the wrong measurements to our cabinet maker for the sink in our island so the island needed to be completely replaced with a new island made to the correct specifications. Jim coordinated the changes and we had the new island in less than a week. It was truly impressive and it turned out better than expected. If I had questions, he was more than willing to take the time to respond. He was always so patient with me even when I had crazy concerns about the most detailed things. McLain started the house when they said they would and it took 6 months, just as we talked about in our initial meeting. We had several days of inclement weather during our build (we started in November and built through the winter months and into the spring). As soon as the weather was suitable to work again, they were back at it. They've taken the time to seek out the best skilled workers and we were so impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. They were always so respectful when we would go out to do walk-throughs at the house. As the process came to a close, we were able to do 2 thorough punch-list walk-throughs to make any fixes necessary. Jim was so helpful with making this go smoothly. He was so timely with finishing the house before our scheduled close date. We had so much on our plate with our daughter and truly felt confident in the builder through the entire process. They wanted to make sure everything was well done. That was such a relief for us. We would build again with them, without a doubt. When I talk to people about our new home, I'm always glowing! We LOVE it so much and it felt like home even before the house was completed. Every element reflects our family and love for Louisiana - exactly what we had hoped for!

I thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Bryan McLain and his employees, vendors, designers, and other contractors. It was for a great cause and am thankful to have been a part of it with such a generous group of people.
