“We have a house and an acre of land in Metchosin, BC. It is a semi-rural part of Victoria so very lush, green and always growing! As we have not yet moved there full time, the garden was getting ahead of us and we were completely overwhelmed with the amount of work and at a loss for any ideas to get it under control and looking good. I went to a neighbourhood Garden Centre and basically said: "I need help" and they gave me Theresa Balak's card. I was ever so grateful! Theresa came over,to see us and we talked about what we envisioned, our lifestyle and our ideas and wishes for plants and the overall look we had in mind. She took measurements, created comprehensive drawings of the dream and gave us hope that we could find a solution that worked for us - easy care, drought and deer resistant and beautiful. She recommended three possible landscapers as well. Her flexibility and yet clear direction for neophyte gardeners was so appreciated. Her design and the landscaping of Natural Solutions has turned out out-of-control front yard into a beautiful display. (I am sure our neighbours are thankful and the deer travel through it with rarely a sniff or a nibble!) Thanks so much, Theresa!!”

“I hired Take Root Gardens in March of 2014 for a total overhaul of our modest Vancouver backyard. Not only was the execution flawless, they added a lot of value in the design and planning stage, with some great suggestions that worked out really well. During the actual work, they were always right on time, took very good care of our property during the work, and cleaned up spotlessly, even going so far as to powerwash our deck, which was not part of the project. What stood out the most, was how much care they took, and how detail oriented they were. The overall quote was very reasonable, and they came in right on budget and on time. I would hire Ty & Matt again in a second and highly recommend them.”

“How gratuitous meeting Alina, who then took my simple plan of a backyard putting green to a beautiful garden incorporating my passion for golf. Alina was most accommodating to my various design modifications ensuring we got it right before breaking ground. We managed a sunken trampoline, with flat stone retaining wall, to pacify kids back yard hobby, two patio areas appeasing my wife’s desires for afternoon tea in the garden and my passion for golf, including a 20’X40’ putting green, a large sand trap and a well disguised 10x 15 golf hitting cage, all nestled around the large stone pathways and the strategic selections of plants and trees. It truly makes for a wonderful place to play or relax. The detailed design proved invaluable in ensuing contractor did not deviate from the design plan and her continued engagement with contractor ensured all the technical (drainage, soil etc.) and the above ground details were performed as required. Great vision, excellent aesthetic result, hopefully better golf.”

“Tan, the owner of Westland Design Ltd, is wonderful. He listened and really understood our need. Me dad has alzheimer's and had started wandering. Now with our beautiful enclosed and gated courtyard, he is safe and we are happy. My elderly parents sit and admire the open and interesting space for hours and the birdies come and bathe in our little water feature. If dad were to wake up confused in the night he can sit in his softly illuminated garden and find peace and tranquility. Tan and Doug and Lucas worked so hard to create a work of art for us, we are completely pleased and grateful. I now feel a deep friendship for Tan and hope he and his team and family will always be a part of ours. Which is another fact in his favour, he took me around to many different project sites and all the home owners I met were so pleased with their projects, even after many years. I highly recommend Tan and Westland Design Ltd.”

“We initially hired TKL-Design to do our garden in Crescent Beach BC in the form of a traditional English Perennial Style. He truly transformed the garden into a story-book with an inviting winding stone pathway meandering through beautiful gardens of flowers, shrubs and trees . It doesn't matter where you stand in the garden - the small as well as the large is exquisite and consistent. We are now building a new contemporary home in White Rock BC and once again have turned to Thomas Kyle - principal designer and owner of TKL-Design, for the landscaping. His ideas so far are perfect for the sight and our lifestyle. We are very impressed by his bold creativity, yet he knows when to hold back for the full impact as well. He is a true professional with all the knowledge of the trade. Both our architect as well as our builder couldn't be happier with our choice of using TKL-Design.”

“Swicks has been our weekly landscaper for aprox 3 years. They don't only maintain our yard / garden in the summer - but they also hang up our Xmas lights and shovel our driveway in the winter. We have them year round. This year we decided to make our backyard "child friendly" for our son. Swick presented us with a proposal / quote. Final bill was as proposed. We had some technical difficulties with one of the materials; Ron was on site and worked with us to resolve the problem. There weren't any additional charges due to these problems. We are thrilled with how it turned out. Most importantly we were very pleased with everyone that works with Swicks. They are polite and easy to work with. My son looked forward to seeing them every day. They would take the time to say Good morning / Hello and they even allowed him to sit in the Bobcat, which he still talks about till this day. Swicks is a family oriented company with integrity!! Would highly recommend.”

“Blue Bear Landscape Concstruction (Mike Koch) has transformed a problem spot in our garden into a fascinating meditation garden with a contemporary water feature and a careful selection of plants, rocks, and driftwood. This job included the construction of a small rock wall and the installation of feature lights. There is always something blooming yet at the same time it is low maintenance. We are often observing different birds and squirrels that visit the water fountain or the flowers. Mike was pleasant to have around. He is a hardworking fellow who completed the job on time and on budget. We appreciated his design skills to create such an enjoyable tranquil spot. Mike's work does not only look good on the surface, he knows how to build solidly underneath to make things last. We are planning to hire Mike again to re-design our front yard and entrance area. I recommend Mike's work to my friends and family.”
