“We hired the services of April House Garden in 2021 to design the landscape of our newly rebuilt cottage. Fast forward to the end of 2023 the garden looks incredibly beautiful which includes a diverse assortment of flowers, plants, and some trees. “Eliza took a hugely positive and encouraging approach to her garden design work, and was a pleasure to work with. The project had two stages: initial and final, both of which were quoted in advance for price and timescales, and were delivered to the price and on time. The result was highly imaginative and interesting, and our garden attracts praise from everyone who visits us. We are still pleased with what we have and it has stood the test of time. We were recommended a choice of two contractors, and we got quotes from both and chose one of them. The implementation was good, but was let down by taking a very long time and poor pointing on the paving. A lot of this was caused by the weather (sustained torrential rain) and was really outside of Eliza's control. If there was anything that was less than perfect, it was the choice of some of the plants and their location. There were some tall plants that we ultimately failed to keep standing upright because of the wind (we are at the top of a hill). We had been hoping for more all year round plants and less that die down in the winter, but we knew very little at the time, and have since altered the mix a bit. However, we remain fully satisfied with the bit that is difficult to change, namely the hard landscaping.”

“I had a fairly large border (approx 8m x 5m) which had been neglected for a few years. I wanted to create a low maintenance flower bed and liked the idea of a country garden look. Ben and Paul came round and assessed what was there in terms of position (light/shade), soil and the shrubs which were worth retaining. We also discussed budget. I then received a planting plan with a quotation and commissioned the work. The bed was cleared and planted mid June and I am delighted with the result. I now have a bed which will flower more or less from May to September and will require increasingly less maintenance as it matures. FGD are extremely knowledgeable and gave me advice on other areas of my garden (not areas which will result in work for them). I do have another two areas which do need a makeover and I will certainly commission them to undertake the project.”

“Paul and his team at Green & Gorgeous have been maintaining and improving our garden since September 2007. We have employed them on a weekly basis for over 7 years. As well as maintenance they have taken on hard landscaping and design projects for us. The team are personable, knowledgeable, efficient and proactive. “Terrific, from start to finish! Everything you want: professional, reliable, capable, hardworking with great advice and suggestions and just a first-class end result. Really pleased with the high quality work from Green Tree Gardens, would certainly recommend. Dave and team did a brilliant job redesigning and replacing a complicated 50ft boundary fence, rebuilding a wall, and relaying tired slabs and block paving. Worked tirelessly through the cold and wet! Everything left beautifully clean and tidy afterwards. Very pleased.”

“Nicola is an excellent, highly creative Landscape Architect, who was able to take a very complicated and unusual brief and create inspired and beautiful designs. Our project is a recreation of an historic garden, which is part of the University of Bristol. Although not a strict restoration, we wanted to return some of the original features and layout to the garden, but also create a space which worked for the students and public who will use the garden. Throughout the whole process, Nicola has worked closely with us on all parts of the design and implementation, always being available with advice and hands-on help when needed. She is friendly, personable and a good communicator. and takes the time to make her process accessible, so we have felt able to contribute to the overall design. Nicola's flexibility and quick thinking have been invaluable, as our project has many moving parts, and she has been able to adapt and give us options to suit our needs as the brief has changed along the way. It's great to be able to work with someone who has such thorough and detailed knowledge of the design process, and understands the challenges of working with public spaces in a heritage setting. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nicola for work on any type of project, she is a pleasure to work with.”
